Ok, we decided on a HM destination, but there's a slight glitch.... can you help? We're going to the Mayan Riviera and we're covered for Hurricanes through Leslie Daniels (Travel Solutions) up until 24 hours before we leave....this means even if I stub my toe, I can cancel our HM up to 24 hours before we leave and we'll get all our hotel $ back and get a credit from American Airlines for up to 1 year later.... BUT if we get down there and a hurricane hits us at that time, the hotel will not comp us our stay that we lose....Ex: we arrive on Wed and a hurricane hits on Thurs, the hotel will keep us safe until we are scheduled to leave or get us to the airport, but they won't reimburse us for our lost honeymoon.. I'm thinking let's book it now....if it looks like a hurricane is going to hit before we leave, we'll cancel the trip. If it hits while we're there, our HM is already ruined... What do you girls think?

Re: Honeymoon question!
Sounds reasonable to me. Hurricanes never pop out of thin air - they always take a few days to form and gather strength, so you'll know before you leave if your area is in any imminent danger.

Re: Honeymoon question!
this was my exact problem -- even where I was booked is the same. I started having visions of having to cancel my HM the day before my wedding. I switched destinations.

Re: Honeymoon question!
Like Betsy said, you'll know if one is coming because they don't just pop out of thin air. And in the event one starts coming while you're there, well honestly, that's a risk you have to take sometimes. We had actually hoped for a hurricane because our resort has a hurricane guarantee...if a hurricane comes and disrupts one day of your trip thus preventing you from enjoying fully the resort for that day, you get the whole trip over again for free (excluding airfare). But I think that's rare.

I agree - I would book it.

I'd book it, it's a chance you have to take. Hurricane season is from June to Oct., it can hit at any time. If you have the insurance i'd go for it.

I would book it. You could also look into getting travel insurance from an outside company as well. It may be a little more, but if it covers a hurricane hitting while you're down there, then it's worth it.
