Ok ladies - we're totally slacking on the honeymoon. FH and I were thinking of Hawaii...but here's what I don't know and I'm asking kindly if you'd mind sharing ... what is a basis of comparison for cost of a honeymoon? how long do most people go? I would love 2 weeks - but with us being one income for now (FH was laid off ) I'm thinking maybe 10 days. I hope this doesn't come off crass just not sure where to begin and want to be sure we get a good deal. any little tips are much appreciated ( i know i know - 'call travel tom'

Re: honeymoon question
HOLY SHIZNIT!!! ok thats the number I was looking for. we really had no idea what we were going to spend - what is considered realistic and whats considered ridiculous. thank you for sharing! You'll have a GREAT time in Mexico! FH and I have actually been - otherwise I think we'd plan on going there. we were going to do Italy originally but the the dollar to a dump and we decided it just wasn't smart as at this point we'd pay double for everything. soo - we thought Hawaii maybe? being that October is hurricane season I wanted to stay away from the Caribbean. hmmmmmm but 10k yikes! thanks for sharing though!

Re: honeymoon question
Hawaii is super expensive, we were planning on going there but after some monetary considerations decided on Jamaica instead. The flight alone to hawaii is about $1500!
Why don't you look into Costa Rica - its off the honeymoon belt but is tropical and something different. Plus there are all inclusive hotels down there that will help you save money by not spending it on all your meals!

I am going to Hawaii and got a pretty good deal. We went to travel agent got a quote & it was a lot!! Then we went home researched and ended up booking everything ourselves & saved a ton of money!!

Re: honeymoon question
one of FH's cousins took a cruise to Hawaii (left out of Los Angeles)...that might be the cheapest way to see Hawaii without compromising luxury

Re: honeymoon question
FH and I took a cruise of Hawaii 3 yrs ago for 7 days, and w/ everything incl airfare I think it was $6000 total, you can also book a pre-stay at one of the hotels for like an extra $200-300.

Re: honeymoon question
We're doing Punta Cana, all inclusive, GREAT PACKAGE for 11 Days and it's very affordable. FM me if you want details.
We checked with Travel Tom and he kept pushing Excellence Riviera Maya on us as that seems to e his 'miracle'honeymoon of choice but we didn't want to do Mexico. He's really nice and can get you a good deal if you'd like to go there.
FM me if you need contact info.

Re: honeymoon question
We are doing Hawaii the week before you and we got 10 days for less than $10,000! We went through Liberty Travel and booked the Marriott on both Maui and Kauai and they are having a deal where you get the 5th night free so we are only paying for 8 nights, and you get all this free stuff with it too; FM me if you want more info...

Re: honeymoon question
We are only going for 11 days instead of our original idea for two weeks.....No Big Deal - Maybe two weeks is too long anyway. Since it is hurricane season, we decided on Cabo - Yet to go to the travel agent, but I did a lot of research and it looks Awesome!! I priced it out myself and for an all inclusive deal with flights - it came out to just under $5000 - which is not as bad as I had predicted!

Re: honeymoon question
I can't answer the price question, but FH and I originally wanted two weeks. Then FH really wanted to two weeks. We could have done that but I didn't want to come home from our HM and have to go to work the next day. I convinced him 10 nights/11 days would be perfect so we're coming home Friday evening and would go to work Monday.

Re: honeymoon question
We are doing two weeks in France (one week Paris, one week Nice) and will probably break the bank. We haven't reserved hotels yet but we did book flights. We got a good deal for 2 roundtrip tix including taxes, fees etc for $1700. I think we may upgrade with miles too which would make it even better. As far as hotels, we are doing fancy for a few nights but the rest much more reasonable places. We are going to be out and about so much we don't need the lap of luxury for each night.

Re: honeymoon question
My co-worker just booked at a Hilton or RCI based resort in Hawaii. It was not all inclusive and I think it ran her around $2500-$3000 for a week. Her airfare was an additional $2500 pp.

Re: honeymoon question
Hawaii can be very expensive (i am finding that out lol) Honolulu is like staying in the top notch places in NYC $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. We are staying for 1 week then cruising the islands for a week and its extremely expensive. What about going to an all inclusive where everything is included ...a lot of them are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
