Honeymoon Question

Help!! I am totally clueless about all these tropical places. We are thinkin about going in the 1st 2 weeks of October or the week before Thanksgiving in November.

I know its kind of hurricane season..so its a concern..however we really dont want to go to europe..too expensive and not enough time off to request from work.

Sooooo..what islands do you guys recommend. And what is the difference between the islands? does anyone know? There is Aruba, Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman Island, Domicican Republic, Bahamas, Hawaii, British Virgin Islands, US VI, Jamaica, St Marteen,..ect. ect. They all sound nice but imi not sure of the differences ha

Re: Honeymoon Question

Are you looking for an all-inclusive or it doesn't matter.

We're going to Aruba the first week of October. We wanted to go to the Carribean, and Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt. I've never been there, but I've only heard raves about it.

I'd agree with Aruba. We went to the DR in December and the Island was hit with a named tropical storm our second day there.

Re: Honeymoon Question

Okay...so I have done a lot of traveling in the Caribbean and I have to say that October is not a great time to visit there as its the end of hurricane season. If you are set on the Caribbean I would suggest Tortola with a side visit to Virgin Gorda. Virgin Gorda is BEAUTIFUL.

That being said my fiance and I are going to Pacific Costa Rica for our honeymoon. We are staying at the Hotel Borinquen for 2 days and then the Hotel Captain Suizo.

We're going to Hawaii and it has a great mix of tons to do (watersports, volcanos, sightseeing, beaches) and beautiful tropical weather (80 all year) and you don't have to worry about hurricanes there!!!

Re: Honeymoon Question

We are going to Riviera Maya in Mexico. We originally booked a European cruise, but that was going to be wat crazy expensive with the price of the Euro and everything. We didn't want to do Aruba and the travel agent said you are better off in the western Carribean during hurricane season.

Re: Honeymoon Question

We're going to Hawaii in November. That's actually their 'off' season so the prices are better. Novemer falls in the winter season for Hawaii, which they say is the rainy season. But the Frommer's Hawaii book I have said that it doesn't rain for more than 3 days straight in one spot. Also, the avg temp during their winter season is 78 degrees. The book also says that Sept thru Mid December is one of the best times to go to Hawaii.

Re: Honeymoon Question

Hi Girls,

I am a Travel Agent and the only islands that are completely out of the hurricane belt are:

Aruba

Bonaire

Curacao

for the other ones and that includes Mexico, do yourself a favor and buy the trip insurance--its very much worth it. god forbid a dumb hurricane decides to hit your island :)
