Honeymoon Question

How much do you think is reasonable to spend on a honeymoon?

We are planning to take a once in a lifetime 2 week trip to French Polynesia, it is going to be pricey and to some probably very expensive.

It is something we can afford but I look at the price tag sometimes and feel like it looks excessive.

Should I stop feeling that way and just book it as it truly is once in a lifetime?

Honeymoon Question - Long Island Weddings

The term 'Reasonable' is a very very relative term, everyone has different priorities and different budgets so it is hard to say. But I think a good judgement is, if the Honeymoon is costing more than the Wedding, you've spent too much! hehe
In my case, my honeymoon is very important since I agree it is a once in a lifetime trip, and my FH hates to travel so who knows the next time I will get this! lol So, our honeymoon is costing about 1/3 of the price of the wedding. Does that make sense, like take the total cost of the wedding and divide it by 3- that's what I'm spending lol

THIS!! My feelings exactly to a T! FH and i are planning on going to Bora Bora. We know it will be a bit of a stretch dropping SO much money on our honeymoon but the way we look at it is, if we were EVER going to go to French Polynesia wouldn't now be the best/ most appropriate time to do it? 5 years down the road who knows if we'll have kids or the money or time to go on a 10K trip together. Might as well go big!

Re: Honeymoon Question

That is so exciting that you are planning to go there as well!
Our plan as of now is that we are doing:
Hilton Moorea
Le Taha'a
Four Seasons Bora Bora

I am probably going to book it this month via AMEX Platinum travel as they have been able to get me the best prices & upgrades.

Are you using a travel agent?

Honeymoon Question - Long Island Weddings

I have a friend from college that stayed at the Hilton Moorea + Four Seasons Bora Bora. Her pictures are unreal they're so gorgeous! Definitely good choices with those hotels. We are planning on using a travel agent or AAA to see if we can get upgrades or good deals but we haven't officially booked anything yet. I told FH we have the square away more wedding stuff before we can get started on the really fun part the honeymoon. I haven't checked out Amex platinum travel but i will definitely look into it if you think you got the best deal there!

Crashing.

Go for it. As long as it won't put you into debt I don't see a problem.

I don't think there is an 'ideal' price. It really depends what you have in your budget. Personally, I say splurge on your honeymoon.
