honeymoon rec!!!

Hi ladies...
I know its time for alot of you to start deciding about honeymoon spots and I just wanted to share my experience. We just got back from the Excellence Playa Mujeres (Cancun, Mexico) and I can't recommend it more highly!! Its like a 'cruise on land'. All inclusive and all you could ever want. Beach and pools. All adults. Very clean, lots of places to sit, beautiful grounds, beautiful rooms (all have indoor/outdoor 2-person hottub), and the staff is INCREDIBLY friendly! AWESOME spa too. We got the most basic room and it was perfect but they also have roof-top terraces, butler-service rooms, etc. They have 4 locations.

omg that looks amazing!!! how was the area of cancun though because we are looking into it too and i heard mexico isnt that great to go to esp cancun area...

it was totally fine. DH was worried about that too. I think its just the rural towns and at off-hours. i think the touristy areas are pretty much safe. this resort is 30 mins north of the airport and within 3 security gates... my safety was never a concern. our shuttle driver said to stay on the main strip in Cancun if we visited and that would have been okay too. you wont want to leave the resort though!

wow thats great i just looked it up and it looks sooooo amazing!!!

is there a lot to do at the resort as in like night life??

thanks so muxh for that review!!! we booked that exact resort @ playa mujeres. we got hte 2 story rooftop room. it looks gorgeous! I am glad to hear that someone went there and loved it!!! How was the food there???

we had a basic room which was great. you are going in may so it should be okay...ive heard the pool up there can be quite cold. just an FYI, but dont let that deter you! i believe those rooms are 2 floors. we were in building 7 and i think it might be one of the quieter ones.

the food was good. we went for 5 nights so we didn't eat at all the places but im sure they were good too. We did the French, brand new Indian (opened on sat), tapas, asian fusion, and mediterranean (only so-so). there is also mexican, a lobster place, italian, and a steak/grill place. i think we are spoiled by living in NY with our food choices but it really was good!

there is a show/theme night every night. there are also 11 or something bars around the place. DH and I really aren't night-life people so we didn't really use that stuff. i believe there is karoke some nights and also a bar that turns into a club-type of place, and a cigar room. its probably not as active as other all-inclusives that boast that. there was a michael jackson impersonator that was REALLY GOOD so that was fun.

hmm never thought of the pool upstairs being cold. thats the stuff you dont think about! lol

good to know about the food. we are staying for 10 nights, so its good to know that theres plenty of places to go eat os we dont get stuck going to the same place every night! and thats really cool about the theme nights each night.

I am excited all over again now to go! I can't wait!!!!

read trip advisor...there are a ton of reviews on there. i actually had a friend go in May with a roof-top terrace and she had rave reviews. dec is quite different than may. :)
