Has anyone booked a honeymoon as a registry? We are still thinking about it, so I wonder how it works. Does anyone know?
thanks,
Elena

Re: Honeymoon registry
I saw it in a wedding magazine last night, I will post the website for you when I get home this evening. There is a company that sets it up for you, where people can contribute to different portions of your HM. I think it is a cool idea.

Re: Honeymoon registry
I've never done it but I think honeymoon and buying a home registries are becoming more common these days. Especially since many people live together and on their own before marriage you have a lot of the house stuff.
Good Luck.

Re: Honeymoon registry
I know of a few people that did this. I'll find out the company name. I don't if it's 'proper' etiquette or not, but it sure seems like a good idea to me!
According to brides I've spoken with, in hindsight, they think that many people don't feel comfortable contributing as a gift. It seemed to them that most of their shower guests preferred to buy traditional gifts. My mom insisited on buying a place setting for last shower we went to...I wanted to give to honeymoon fund. They ended up getting all of their china, crystal, linens, etc. but only one or two contributions to the h-moon.

Re: Honeymoon registry
I've seen that and I think it's a great idea. People can just contribute to the honeymoon or do specific things like a moonlight cruise from Aunt Betty and Uncle Tom or breakfast in bed from cousin Jenny, etc. I think it's pretty cool...

Re: Honeymoon registry
Thanks ladies! My FH and I have been thinking about this ... we are not sure yet, because he is trying to get a job in Europe, so we even don't know where will be in that regard next year around the wedding time. In the other hand, his parents still live in Europe so we can just go there, pick up his car and travel around Morocco, Spain, and France (FH loves traveling and driving) plus he can windsurf around those areas.
Now, ss2002 is right about that some people don't feel confortable giving you a gift that is kind of 'to money specific' like cash or installments for honeymoons and house downpayments ... I have that in mind, but since we live together we have a complete household but 3 things. Anyway I would love to see the website that Shamma96 got from a magazine! Let's see what can make both of us completely happy about it
Thanks again!

Re: Honeymoon registry
www.thebigday.com is one of the Honeymoon registry websites. This is a very interesting concept that I had not heard of until now. I'm going to look into it.

Re: Honeymoon registry
I looked into a honeymoon registry- I liked www.honeyluna.com because people can by you certain parts of your honeymoon ex. 1 nights hotel stay, sunset cruise in Grand cayman, ect. There fee was kinda high though.
Most travel agents will also set up the registry for you and people can call them and give money toward your honeymoon.

Re: Honeymoon registry
Believe it or not, Liberty Travel has just recently implmented a registry program. I was torturing myself about what to do, should we, shouldn't we, should we, shouldn't we (I felt kind of cheesy doing it, but it is sooooooo the only thing we really wanted). Well we did it and I feel its the best thing we ever did. I also registered at Macy's and Fortunoff's because I was afraid people were not going to like the Honeymoon registry idea, but people seemed to like it. It was amazing not only did I get A LOT of great gifts but we made $3,000 towards our honeymoon. I couldn't believe it. I think by next year Honeymoon registry will be all the rage. Quite a few people got us a gift and contributed to our honeymoon. I say GO FOR IT.

Re: Honeymoon registry
Wow Lisamarie! That is encouraging! I will check it, by the way, how did they do it? Did they divide the costs in certain number of 'bonuses'? Or they just offered specific options to your guest as 'monday breakfast', 'saturday lunch'. Thanks a lot!

Re: Honeymoon registry
Well we're going to Sandals so its all-inclusive for the one price, so people just went in or called and put whatever about of money they wanted towards our honeymoon and Liberty gave them a card to give to me at the shower. Liberty gave my sister registry cards just like Macy's and Fortunoff's had and she put them in the shower invitation. I heard a lot of people were like, what's this? how does it work? There is also a number on the card and the agent we had explained everything to people when they called. Everything goes into your file at Liberty. Also what I really liked about doing it at Liberty was there everywhere, so people could go to anyone and give money for our registry. You should definitely check it out. We were ecstatic we decided to do it. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Re: Honeymoon registry
Thanks a lot for the tip! I am still thinking ... this issue of FH looking for a job overseas is very upsetting for traveling plans I am just looking into the Windsurf honeymoons ... he loves Windsurf, of course ... I barely swim, so I only would get to be suntanned Let's see, is either the honeymoon or a silver flatware set.
Thanks for all the help!!!

Re: Honeymoon registry
Hey airfare to Europe is expense, right. With the registry you may get your airfare totally taken care. Plus you should definitely register at the normal registry stores for 'normal' gifts, just to give people plenty of options. I just saw your profile, your getting married next May so you still have plenty of time to decide about the registry. We didn't register till the very end of July early August . So wait a few more months and see where your at. Good luck, hope all turns out well.

Re: Honeymoon registry
I hope I'm getting a better understanding of this honeymoon registry thing. So they would contribute to your honeymoon INSTEAD of giving a gift? Then that's not a bad idea. It's just another gift option. OR is it that they contribute to your honeymoon AFTER already giving you a wedding gift, which is what I first thought it was, and I didn't like it.
