Honeymoon Registry

Honeymoon Registry

Is it tacky to register for a honeymoon? FH and I already live together and pretty much have everything we need for the apartment, but we are not able to afford a honeymoon right now.

Tacky... Yes or No?

Definitely not tacky. It's the new thing to register for.

Definitely NOT tacky... a lot of couples live together today and have everything they need... it's better than not registering for anything and having your guests think you're just asking for cash.

We live together too and we have soo much stuff. We did a bbb registry with just some things on it, like china, etc., but we also did a HM registry. I love it...but I did not put anything on it as far as room accomodations or airfare. I just did excursions. I didn't really like the idea of asking guests for hotel accomodations or airfare b/c in my own little head, I felt like that was asking them to 'pay' for our HM. I dunno, that's just my own opinion. That's why we just stuck to activities b/c I considered them more like a 'gift' rather than 'paying' for the HM. Is it weird that I thought like this??

Re: Honeymoon Registry

We did one on Traveler's Joy (following in the footsteps of friends who did the same a year before). It was such a great way to involve our friends and family in our HM! We had an amazing time and really did a bunch of things on our trip we may not have otherwise done because of it.

The best thing is that you just get a check for the full amount after, so you really can do whatever you want with the money. So even if someone gets you two tickets to the opera but you decide you'd rather spend a day on a private tour of a city, you can use the money however you'd like.

It's probably a bit 'tacky' by traditional standards, and since you're asking, you probably think so too. But it's practical and it's fun, and a modern wedding is supposed to be whatever you make of it. I say, enjoy, do what makes you happiest, and let the little old ladies buy you napkin rings... you're gonna have the HM of a lifetime!

Not tacky at all. Someone else I know did it and I thought it was great. I registered for one as well. We already live together, so we have everything we need. Go for it.

I've had about 5 friends get married and do it. No one thought it was tacky at all, and a lot of people wished they had done it in the aftermath.

We did it for our wedding. We registered with honeymoonwishes.com. All of our guests bought us gifts from here. We love it ! Our honeymoon was paid for ! So I say do it !

Re: Honeymoon Registry

We did one through out travel agent. People just sent her checks and then she deducted it from the total balance. FH and I already live together and really didn't need that much stuff. My mom and some of the 'older' more traditional family membres through it was a little tacky, but they were the ones that just didn't give money to the travel agent and bought off the registry.

I would suggest having at least a small registry (we did BBB) for the people that don't want to put money towards the honeymoon just so that they have other options AND so that you can pick some stuff you want and you won't get stuck with 100 little crystal bowls you have no use for.

I dont think it's tacky. But I think some people will be turned off by it, so it's best to also have a tradional registry. FH and I dont need much...but you can always use a new bedding set, towels etc

We did it! I also registered for BBB so if someone thought it was tacky they didnt have to buy me anything off of it.
