Has anyone registered for a honeymoon? I am looking into possibly doing a Sandles Honeymoon registry. We don't really need any household type of stuff so we thought a honeymoon registry would a good idea. I don't know anyone who has done this. I am just wondering how it works. Are there any restrictions? Are there better ones other than Sandles? We are looking into a relaxing style honeymoon. Any suggestions are appreciated

Re: Honeymoon registry?
You need to really read the find print. The things I don't like about honeymoon registries are that they usually take fees. I know on honeyfund.com they take about 7% of what people give. Sandals also takes a percentage.
The best honeymoon registry in terms of that is actually the Disney Honeymoon registry. They don't take any fees at all, and you don't have to do the activities people buy for you. You actually get the full amount on a Disney gift card which doesn't expire, so it can be used after the fact.
The only downsides are that I've heard the site doesn't work that well and you need to have your trip booked before you can register.

We used honeyfund.com. They do not take and fees from you! Your guests basically clcik on what they would like to 'buy' you (for example, 1 night in the honeymoon suite $150) and pledge to give you the money at the shower. So on the day of your shower they give you a check or cash with a print out of what they bought you.

Re: Honeymoon registry?
My girlfriend used Honeyfund for her registry. She registered for specific things (like scuba diving, massages, underwater camera, etc.) when people buy something off the registry they get a certificate that they could send you in a card (so grandma and gradpa feel like they're buying you something specific) but the money just goes into one big account, so you can use it for anything you want!!!

a few 2010'ers used traveljoy.com (including me!) and it was pretty good. The fees aren't too high as the other travel sites.

Re: Honeymoon registry?
We went to Sandals for our HM and used TravelersJoy.com for a HM registry. They did take some fees, but in my opinion they were pretty reasonable and I liked the fact that they were affiliated with the Better Business Bureau. They also come up on registry searches on weddingchannel.com along with other registries you might have (like Macy's or Bed Bath & Beyond) so guests can find your registry easily.
In total, we received about $1,200 in gifts from our HM registry so I am very happy we did it!!

Same here! I loved Travelers Joy. We already had a house so didn't really need anything. TJ is way better than honeyfund and honeymoon wishes IMO. There are more options to personalize your site. And yes, i signed up for all 3 Hm registries and chose which one I liked best and then cancelled the other 2
Travelers Joy does take I think 7 or 7.5% but so do the other ones (besides honeyfund, which I was not a fan of)...and you can just raise the price of the item you register for to cover the 7% fee. You can also upload all your own pics for the items you register for (not so with some of the other sites) so I actually googled the excursions we wanted to do in Fiji and added them to the registry so gift buyers saw exactly what we'd be doing. My shower guests loved it! We got over $2,000 from it...just about every single thing was bought!
I personally don't like the idea of putting airfare or hotel accommodations on the registry because I didn't want it to come across like I was asking them people to pay for my HM. I mean, essentially I guess I kinda was b/c you get a check for the value of all 'gifts' purchased and you can spend it on absolutely anything you want, but, something about putting those on there rubbed me the wrong way. I only put excursions on the HM registry so it was like they were just enhancing our trip once we were already there...if that makes any sense lol.
We did do a small BBB registry also to give guests more options.

Re: Honeymoon registry?
Thanks ladies!! Well, seeing all the fees on some of these sites mentioned, I think if anything I might go with honeyfund. I think 7% is really high. On 3K that would be over 200.00! I would feel like one or 2 of my guests gift money went right to some company. I am still not sure if the honeymoon fund is for me, but I really appreciate everyone's feedback and advise!

With Honeyfund you are still at 3% for using PayPal. Also, since they are just a way to move the money, they really take no responsibility if there are issues - they shuttle you to PayPal. The extra 4% makes me feel more secure. Just my .02.

But- you don't have to use the paypal method if you don't want to. I chose cash or check only, since there are no fees associated with these methods of paying.
