Honeymoon Registry - Need opinions

Honeymoon Registry - Need opinions

Hi girls -
Not sure on this one. I've seen people include honeymoom registry slips put into the bridal shower invites and my first impression was - TACKY! But now that I am planning my own wedding and my FH and I have a lot of what we need, I am reconsidering. We live together, are in our mid-thirties, own our own place, and have a lot of necessities that most newlyweds would register for and I am not starting to think that the Honeymoon Registry is not a bad a idea for the bridal shower.

Personally, I think its all in how its worded in the invite. I think if its worded in a way that explains that we've got a lot of what we need and feel that this is a nice alternative just in case you don't know what to get us, than I think it can be done tastefully.

But...... there still a part of me that screams - TACKY!!

You tell me - Tacky or not?

Thanks girls!!

If you have a wedding website you can add links to your registries... I would add the link to your website in your invites so that if they want to find it they can

I am doing it, so I don't think it is tacky!!!! I am a bargain shopper and it angers me that in BBB a cookie sheet is like $30, when I could get the same one in homegoods for $10. My SIL had one and I fell in love with it. If it is done the right way it will not come off tacky at all!!!! Here is my registry, we used honeyfund.com . FM me if you have any questions.

I don't think they are tacky. We are registered for some things at BBB but like you, we have a house and have all the neccessities.

We did our HM Reg. w/ Travelers Joy. I did NOT put things like airfaire & hotel rooms on our registry b/c I don't feel right about that. But, we did put different excursions and things like that on there. I think it's all how you word it. In the introduction, I commented how we are lucky enough to have a home that includes many of the traditional wedding registry items so we decided to set up this registry. My mom keeps telling me that everyone loves the HM registry.

I made these cards for my mom to include with my shower invites....

I have not, I am a tj maxx, marshalls, homegoods type of girl and we basically have everything all ready that we could ever want.

This is a excellent idea. I've never seen it in any bridal shower before so I never thought about it. But I think is such a good idea especially for couples that already live together and have everything needed for a house. I think I'll do that for my bridal shower. Thanks!!!

I just went to traveler's joy and it's awesome but how does it really work? I understand you choose what u want ur guests to get u, but once ur guests choose and pay for something, how do u get what they bought u?

Bridal Shower invites is where registry info is supposed to go. It's helpful to the guests.

I hope it's not tacky since I did it! But I would also recommend registering at BBB or some place like that for more 'traditional' people. My HM registry is from honeyfund.com and my BBB registry only has things I really want and/or want to upgrade.

I think it depends on how you word it. I've seen it done so tacky. But honeyfund and registries like that do it nicely-- and I personally would rather get someone something they really want vs something they dont want or need

Yes, I am registering at stores as well. Its going to be a little bit at Bed, Bath and Beyond, a little at Target and possibly Macy's. My grandmother passed away last July and left me her near perfect condition china and real silver silverware. So, we're going to just register for the real things we need and things that need to be replaced. I think if its worded right and maybe in a cutesy rhyme than the honeymoon registry can come off well as opposed to looking like you're just looking for people to pay for your honeymoon - which is what I don't want it to seem like.

Thank you!!! A friend of mine actually did some research and according tp the President of the Emily Post Institute of Etiquette, it is perfectly acceptable to have a honeymoon registry but they do recommend offering other non-honeymoon registry items.
