Honeymoon Shower

Honeymoon Shower

So my sister wants to throw me and FH a honeymoon shower instead of a bridal shower. We already have a house and have everything we need. However, we were going to wait until Jan to go on our honeymoon cause we cant afford it as of right now. So she said instead of everyone getting gifts for stuff we dont need she wants to see if everyone will chip in for a honeymoon for us. My Mom doesnt think this is a good idea cause people will feel like they have to give money at a shower and a wedding! I dont think it matters. I love the idea! Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I have heard of something similar! A friend of ours registered at a travel agency so people would pay the travel agency towards their honeymoon in Hawaii! They lived together as well and didn't really want anything for their house. I think it's a great idea!

Interesting. I think its a great idea. Alot of people gave me gift cards for my shower and its kind of the same thing.

I bet alot of people will respond to your post saying 'you should start a HM registry to make it look less weird'.

I would totally discourage you from doing this if you are using one of the random HM websites... when I was looking into that, the agencies that run HM registries take 7 percent from the money guests give you. TAs often don't take a cut of it, so I would check that out.

If I were a guest and found that out I would be upset that only 93 percent of my gift was going to you.

I think it's such a great idea... wish I thought of it. FH and I have a house already too and we got a ton of stuff for our Engagement party... there's really not more I need so I told my friends for the shower to get me lingerie.

I've never heard of this, but I have heard of a honeymoon registry. This sounds like a great idea.

For my MOH we registered her for a HM. We gave people the option of putting money towards a HM or for them to get her gifts from her registry.

I thought it was a good idea and it worked out well.

I think its a great idea. You register at a travel agent. Then people give you gift certificates that get applied in an account for you. I know Liberty Travel does this.

Good to know...that's terrible!!!! I'll never recommend anyone create a HM registry!!!
