Planning our honeymoon is really stressful!!! Neither of us have been outside the country, and we are planning to go to Greece. Everything is so new to us and very confusing and overwhelming! I am glad we are starting to plan now, so that when flight information is available MAYBE we'll be ready!
I have a question about making international phone calls. How do you do this?? Can you just dial the number into any American phone? Like, I want to call a hotel and if their number is: +30 22860etcetc.... how the heck do I do this?? Also, do you think that they will be able to speak and understand English?

Re: Honeymoon Stress
Here is a link that can show you how to dial an international #.
Your 2nd question, it depends what type of hotel you are calling. If it's a well-know one like the Hilton, Crowne-Plaza, Sheraton, etc, they will have english speaking people. If it's a local hotel, like a mom and pop type of place, they might speak a little english. It really depends.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Honeymoon Stress
you have to type in the country code first (usually a 3 digit # starting with a zero) before the number! Greece is amazing!!! I did t 2 week tour there with a bunch of girls, we had a blast and it was GORGEOUS! can't wait to go back some day! Santorini was my fav island!

Re: Honeymoon Stress
try speaking with a travel agent, i usually do all my travel stuff online but for hm it gets way too complicated especially if your planning to move around
if your trying to call athens it would be 01130210 and then the 7 digit number (the 210 is athens area code, and the 01130 is to call greece, just an fyi for future reference)
theyll def be able to communicate in english with you so dont worry about that

Re: Honeymoon Stress
Definitely go with a travel agent for your honeymoon. I've travelled a lot with martial arts, work, and stuff, and I have ALWAYS booked my own travel. BUT, for the honeymoon I don't want the headache!

Re: Honeymoon Stress
We are thinking of Greece too, but its so frustrating looking at things now because flights are so expensive when you book far in advance! I check every day hoping the flights will go down, but no such luck! I wish we could just get it booked already!

for summer especially its best not to wait till last minute to book, flights get more expensive

I have heard that Greece in the summer is crazy busy. I was thinking of buying my flight tickets right when they get released around November. I have been looking at prices online and kinda/sorta know what the average prices are so we'll see.

Re: Honeymoon Stress
picking flights can be really tricky. your in october so it wont be TERRIble but the price will still be a little high. i would book probbably no later then January of february. sometimes the airlines run sales around presidents week for international because most people are flying to the islands and neglect europe and such. i know when i was working at liberty travel i booked a bunch of people that week to italy and london for about $350 a ticket. up thats with taxes. def no later then february though. just dont be mad if the price of ur air goes down after that. u kinda just have to take what you get.

yeah thats crazy tourist season (esp August!), but i know like my mom for example we were looking at tickets like 8 month before and she decided not to go and then changed her mind like 1 month before and the price had gone up like $350ish pp

Re: Honeymoon Stress
If you call they should have someone who speaks English... when FH and I first started dating he had a trip planned to Europe with one of his friends. When I would call his hotels most every country had someone at the front desk who spoke English... except Italy... they were kind of jerks about it. I knew they understood me but refused to respond in English.
