Honeymoon suggestions.......

Honeymoon suggestions.......

I've gotten several recommendations to go to Moon Palace in Cancun for the honeymoon, but now people are talking me out of it because mid october is still hurricane season.

Does anyone know of any nice resorts (warm, things to do, maybe beachy but nice pools are fine) that are not in the 'south'? Arizona or Cali maybe? We only have a week to take our honeymoon so I don't want to do hawaii or any place really far...........

what do you think?

why not Aruba? It's not actually in the Hurricane belt, so it doesn't get hit. You might get residual effects from Hurricanes, like rain & wind, but not the acutal hurricane.

Otherwise, SanDiego is supposed to be really nice. Or a drive up or down the Cali coast?

How about Vegas?

we are going during hurricane season as well and we are doing jamaica. our travel agent assured us that where we are staying is virtually a hurricane free zone. We booked it and travel insurance, just in case.

We are going to Cancun too but at the end of May (staying at Riu Palace). I would stick with it if you have heard great things about the place but thats JMO. Chances are you will be fine going at that time of year.

hey If you do book in Cancun, look into vacation insurance. That way if you get washed out you are covered. Actually I am off to look into that myself. I am going to Royal Hideaway in Mexico in June & am worried that that is the start of hurricane though it shouldn't be bad.

i am going the first week of Oct to St Lucia. It is beautiful there, a lot of volcanoes, moutains and rainforests, they say it is as close to Hawaii as it gets. St lucia and aruba are really the only places that you'll be safe.

Aruba and Curacao are below the hurricane belt so those are good options. I also think Puerto Vallarta is beautiful and that is a pretty good time to go.

we were worried about this too- but my aunt (who is a travel agent & lives in florida) assured us that that time of year is really the tail end of hurricane season- so based on that, we booked a caribbean cruise & just purchased insurance to be on the safe side (it was only $39 extra)- hth

If you are thinking about AZ, definitely look into Sedona...its breathtaking and there is so much to do. The Grand Canyon is a few hours north and that is amazing as well! Then you could continue up to Las Vegas or California!

FH and I have many of the same concerns since our wedding is taking place the end of September. We both want to go tropical, however haven't decided on a specific location. We had many people suggest going the 'hurricane belt' for our HM. We also entertained the idea of going somewhere local for a few days just for a 'getaway' and taking our official HM later in the year, maybe Dec/Jan????
