Honeymoon suggestions please.

I am going to make a long story short. I am panicing that we are not going to be able to have a nice HM because we are buying our house and should be closing by 6/1. My mom gave us some money towards the reception and the rest we are paying for ourselves. Can anyone suggest nice places maybe closer to home (NY) that wont cost us a lot. I am hoping there are places out there I havent thought of. Thanks.

If you want to stay within driving distance, how about going to Newport, Rhode Island or Martha's Vineyard. You could also wait until the last minute and try to find a deal. The best site I know of is www.travelzoo.com. You can always find great deals there.

We are in a similar boat as you. I will be in school full time and cannot take that much time off so we are going out to Montauk for the rest of the weekend and taking our HM later in the spring....Good Luck!

What about the Poconos? We stayed at the Pocono Palace a few months ago for a weekend. It was cheesy but nice.

In early October, it might be really nice to take a trip up to Vermont or even to the Berkshires (western MA). If you're willing to go a little further (and your dollar will as well!), head up to Montreal and/or Quebec City for a wonderful cultural trip without having to leave the continent.

OMG- freaky! the SAME places I was going to suggest!!
My HIGHEST reccomendation would be Montreal!! it's SOOO beautiful and so much to do. FH and I LOVE it there.

Also there are some great hidden resorts in the Berkshires that are supposed to be phenominal- esp. the Canyon Ranch Spa!!

In VT there are tons of fall activities and so many cute B&B's.

I have always wanted to go to Prince Edward Island (Canada) ever since I was a little girl. It is where the Anne of Green Gables Films (that PBS used to show all the time) were shot. It just looks so beautiful.

Poconos. Maine. Depending how much you want to spend Someone posted about honeymoons under $2000.00. I searched due to their date which was in august in oct it might vary. And you could go for less days. Ill bump it for you. You could get ideas at least.

How about Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa in Hilton Head, SC.

Or anywhere in Hilton Head is beautiful!

Good Luck!

P.S. I think Martha's Vineyard is great too. Maybe a cute B & B place

I love Newport Rhode Island- Hotels are a little pricey but without flying it is less than going to an island.
if you still want to fly somewhere warm, try Florida.
I haven't looked into prces but we are consideirng the Keys if we can't take a longer trip. I also find quebec city to be very romantic & European -like.
you can drive or fly or take a train & bus combo.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. I knew the experts would be able to help. we have no problem flying, I am just thinking if we dont pay for airfare maybe it will be cheaper.

Don't count out flying just because of the expense. How long do you want to be away, and how much do you think you would be able to spend?

FH and I stayed at Cesar's Paradise Stream in the Poconos for our first anniversary and WE LOVED IT!!!

We also thought it would be 'cheesy' or tacky, but it was really nice....the service WAS AMAZING...GREAT FOOD and soooo much to do. The rooms were VERY CLEAN and cute. We stayed in the 'Garden Apple' room, which is NOT the one with the champagne glass tub...it was so nice.

So if anyone thinks the same way I once did...you'd be surprised...I was!

Re: Honeymoon suggestions please.

You can totally manage to go away for that. In fact, you could defintely do something all-inclusive for $2000. Please go look at www.travelzoo.com (I mentioned it earlier) You won't be able to book because they're more of a last miute/last month or so type of thing. But take a look now, just so you can get an idea of the options out there. You can easily go to DR for what you have to spend. FH and I went last year for $475 a person, all-inclusive including air for 5 days.
