I am starting to see more & more 2006 brides post about honeymoones. Just curious, what are considered the most expensive versus the most affordable honeymoone spots? Also, what should we budget for each?
I guess the biggest question, when should we book?
TIA

We are booking our HM through a travel agent, who told me that the rates for 2006 aren't really ready yet. She said there would be a lot more info in the fall.

In the research I have done, places like Hawaii, Bora Bora & Tahiti are expensive.
The Caribbean islands & Mexico are reasonably priced. Depending on which you are looking for. Considering you HM is during hurricane season, I would opt for someplace outside the hurricane belt like Aruba
If FH & you are drinkers, an all-inclusive is the best dollar value.
If you are into seeing more then one island on your HM, a cruise is the way to go! This is what FH & I are doing.

We booked our HM already because it is the week of Spring Break. I wanted to get the cheapest flight possible (and it was still expensive!) We booked in June for April '06.

FH and I are planning on booking our HM to Hawaii this weekend, and it's more expensive than most Caribbean options we were looking at. We are doing research online, then seeing if our travel agenct can get us a better deal.
It also depends on the time of year you are going. March/April is a huge travel month for the warmer spots, the summer might be a little cheaper. Also, we've found that you will save $$ at an all-inclusive resort. Be careful in the fall if you're headed to the Carribean, make sure the islands you go to are outside the hurrcane belt.

We booked our hotels for Tahiti/Moorea/Bora Bora, but i can't book the flight until November. It was on the $$ side, but i did it myself which worked out for best pricing.

St. Lucia, Jamaica and Aruba are popular caribbean honeymoon spots and so is Mexico which has lots of all-inclusives.
We've already done a cruise and all-inclusive so we wanted something we hadn't done and will probably never do again. We picked Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora! We will probably book next month and it is more on the expensive side, but we are working with a budget and it can be done for less $!!!

In my search the most expensive spots are Europe, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Hawaii, and a few of the five star resorts on some of the Caribbean islands. Such as The four seasons (Neves, West Indies), Capa Juluca (Anguila). I would say going to these spots are going to cost you at least $7,000 and up. You can go cheaper and try a cruise too many of these places.
Most expensive cruise lines are Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity. Least expensive Holland America or Princess. Norwegian has a brand new boat that sails out of Oahu and back. That maybe a consideration, and then you can stay on one of the islands after the cruise.
More economical destinations would be any of the all-inclusive resorts. Sandals is a bit pricey, but you can go cheaper if you get a basic room. The Royal hideaway was quite expensive and was getting into $6,000 range for 9 days 8 nights, basic room. The cheapest all-inclusive I found were in Mexico. Such as the Secrets resorts.
I was between going to Aruba and Bermuda, and have decided on Aruba because of the season I will be going. I was scared of going anywhere that is in rainy season. Hurricane's were so bad this year. Bermuda was costing us around $6,300 before air fare. This was for a junior suite ocean front and included breakfast, tea time, and dinner. You can get it cheaper if you choose a different room. Aruba is probably going to cost us at least $4,000 for the room. We are not paying for air fare, so I am not sure of the price. Of course this price can be cheaper, depending on what room you get. They also offer meal plans for the island. If you want more info on that, FM me.

How many months in advance should you book your honeymoone? Where is a good romantic spot to go?
