Honeymooning in September!

Honeymooning in September!

Hi everyone,
My fiance and I are looking to take our honeymoon in late September right after our wedding. I definitely want something beachy and relaxing, and I know he wants a place with things to do. We were initially thinking Mexico since we could sight see ruins and also go to the beaches, but September isn't the best time to go bc of weather. Where are September brides going on honeymoons for about a week?? I'm apprehensive about the carribbean due to hurricane season...Inspiration needed, please :)

aruba, bonaire, curacao, panama, trinidad, tobago, columbia, venezuela, and grenada, are all places out of the hurricane belt and are great places to visit at that time. Sandals just opened a brand new all-inclusive in grenada too, so maybe that could be something to check out :)

Ooooh! I've heard the 'ABC' islands are a good place to go-I've been to Aruba and Curacao a few years ago on a cruise, and while I enjoyed it, I want to go somewhere I haven't been. Grenada sounds perfect!!! Thank you

hurricaine season starts in october. When it rains in the caribbean it does for several minutes and then typically clears up quickly. THe islands theres not much to sight see (at least in my opinion). Mexico I think the weather is comparable but at least theres things to see like the ruins/downtown area, etc. PR would be nice too and its cheap has a lot to do especially if you rent a car. If your interested you can FM and i can give some more. Ive been to mexico/DR/Bahamas/PR. And lived in the carribean for 2 years.

I have had my heart set on staying at the Excellence Playa Mujeres for about a year, but now I'm iffy bc of the rain...I work with someone whose husband is from Mexico, and she said September is all rain there :( We need to visit a travel agent, I think. Hawaii is an option this time of year and super affordable since it's back to school time, but people have said it's too far to do for 6 days. MelLynn-do you know if Mexico is do-able in Sept? I suppose we could always do trip insurance

I visited Live Aqua in Mexico last year with my FH and yup in September was raining most of the time. It wasn't all day but there wasn't too much sun all clouds. Did I enjoy myself? Absolutely but you have to go with expectations of rain in Mexico especially during September...

If you click on this website, it will tell you good places to go on your honeymoon for each month. That is how I decided on Italy and Greece for my September honeymoon.

we went to Cancun in Sept and the first 2 days it rained then it was perfect. I heard it rained everyday until we got there though in the month of Sept.... but that doesn't mean it rained all day long. what about Bermuda? Aruba too.

you can get good deals though going in times like that. especially if like us you get lucky like we did in Sept with only 2 days of a little rain. we went back in January and it was double the price of Sept!

we went to Punta Cana 9/22 last year. we got travel insurance in case of hurricanes. we had no problem, it was PERFECT weather and literally rained for 1 minute. LOL

Thank you everyone! We are thinking St. Lucia-hoping it's outside the hurricane belt

To answer masmith37; Ive only been to mexico once and it was June so hard to tell but I think it would be around the same time as the Caribbean islands.
I agree with what other people told you about flying to Hawaii for 6 days because you loose like 2 with traveling.
One bonus of going to the caribbean you can check how close is a neighboring island and make a day out of it and take the ferry. Those are usually really cheap to take and relaxing to sit back while sipping a caribe (local beer)
