We are trying to decide where to go

Choice One: Jamaica

Choice Two: Aruba

Choice Three: Barbados

Choice Four: Other ( please explain )

It depends if your personalities are like ours.... we get bored at beaches.... couldn't stay there a whole week. We prefer cultural destinations (you can always choose one with a beach!)

I would suggest portugal, malaga, southern france, the alfami coast, croatia, greek islands or turkey, thailand....
beach, good food, and gorgeous castles and towns to explore!

Personally I would pick Barabdos because there is so much to do in terms of tours & night life. Aruba is beautiful but after seeing the island in one day the only thing to do at night was to hit bars. Jamaica is nice & romantic but I've been 6 times already.

I would recommend staying in in Negril. Last time FH & I went we stayed in Montego Bay & he was not thrilled with it. Negril has better beaches & more to do in my opinion. If you need to set up tours I an recommend someone we used for personal tours. We went hiking, caving, snorkeling & white water rafting.

I would pick Virgin Gorda.

I have been to several Caribbean islands and Virgin Gorda had the clearest water and the most untouched coral life.

I picked Aruba mainly because its hurricane season during September. My second choice if you werent worried about hurricanes would be barbados.

Hmm tough choice. Aruba I kinda have a bad taste in my mouth after the Holloway incident. I know some people may think it silly but I feel strongly about it because although Natalie Holloway was a dingbat for drinking and going out with a strange man, the case was handled badly and the corruption was obvious so FH and I just couldn't justify going there which is so disappointing because I have ALWAYS wanted to go there. Maybe ina few years if we feel differently.

Jamaica- We have heard its beautiful but if you leave the compounds, its like Mexico in that you will be propositioned with evrythign from drugs to prostituion. Many of the poorer countries are like that so its not a huge deal. Just something to be aware of. I have been told by several people that the COUPLES resorts are just phenomenal:adults only and all-inclusive. Everyone has said endlessly good things about them.

Barbados...OYE!!!!!!! DO NOT get me started there! Ok I will admit my bias is on personal experience because we were ggoing to have a destination wedding there but after the way we were treated by our wedding planner.... The long story in condesned form is that this woman had some kind of monopoly on the island. She came highylrecommended but she wanted to do ti all HER way and when we asked for choices, we were shut down. So we told ehr we were going to comparse prices because she was being shady with not giving us the names of the PUBLIC Places she was using-you could find them on the tourism page but she would change the names on ehr site.

Anyway, long story short, we were thinking of going with this other woman and so we wrote to the original aldy and told ehr it was off. She CALLS ME LONG DISTANCE at 10:45pm my time to basically try and strong arm me by saying that she 'knew you were working with someone else even before you told me(this was literally a HALF A DAY before we told her) because its a small island and all the vednors work with me. They were coming to tell me a couple was trying o get quotes for 'my spots' and I said 'I don't know this woman asking around(the other wedding planner who mind you, was reccomened on the BARBADOS tourism page!) so i thought I'd call you.'

Disgusted (because this was after 2 weeks of nonsense) I said we were actually having financial difficulties and were going to have to push the wedding to another later undisclosed date. She said fine and then told me if we wever decide to come, to call her because she runs the best places and if we wanted to enjoy it truly, only she could do it. Mind you-conversation wa an HOUR LONG even though i was trying to get off the damn phone after 15 minutes!

So yes...that is my rant about Barbados and how it was ruined for me by one woman wanting to pretend she was the Najan mob boss. It sounds ridiculous, but I just didnt like that calling me lon distance with the understone of 'if you want to have any type of wedding in barbados, need to go through me or else,' vibe. So we nixed our honeymoon plans for there.

Id LOVE to go to Hawaii but too expensive for us. If we were able to go anywhere, Id want to go to Spain or Italy. I like the cultural scene but FH likes beaches.

Of the ones you posted, I'd do Jamaica because it has many more choices in nice resorts that are adults only and all-inclusive than some of the other islands.

I say Negirl Jamaica - we just booked out HM there. were going to Couples Swept Away.

We went there on our honeymoon and it was awesome....I think you should def look into it.
We stayed in the Sandals Grande and we had the best time.

I agree. Aruba's climate is the same all year round and you don't have to worry about hurricanes.

I totally agree, I think there's so much to do in Barbados. I had the most AMAZING time when I went there. That is one of my favorite islands!
