honeymoon....UPDATE 4/12/05

Well my FH and I just figured out that we under budgeted for this whole wedding. We will not have enough money to pay for our HM. So we decided to take it next year. He has already put in for his vacation and they can not change it, so that is why we are waiting till next year. However, we both took time off already, so is there anywhere we can go that is relaxing and inexpensive?

UPDATE
I don't know if this is going to work, but here goes nothing. Sorry if it doesn't. Anyway, all the girls that answered my first post on this in March;I want to say thanks! But now my mothers good friend offered to give us the money for the honeymoon and we can pay her back after we get married. Do I take it or turn it down? I hate taking money from people especially for something like this, but she was so sincere and at first I said no, but thank you so much. When we hung up the phone she said it again that if we need it to call her. What should we do?

Personally, I wouldn't take it. But thats just me. I don't like to take money from other people especially if it's not family.

Borrowing money makes me feel uncomfortable because I don't like to 'owe' anyone. And it could work out vice versa, the person always holds it over you 'Well, remember I lent you.....'.

Good luck with whatever you decide

See that is how I feel, too. I mean she is like family. She has known me since I was in my mother's belly! I have to think about this one.

TAKE IT AND RUNNNNNN..........!!!!

I am just kidding, I know how you feel, but if they are kind enough to make the gesture, they might be insulted if you turn it down. You can probably pay them right back after the wedding with some of the money you receive as gifts -
It is a hard decision though

I would take it. & pay her back. If u were using a credit card u would have topay back with interest.

I would take it and go on your HM after you get married and then pay her back when you get back from your HM. I mean I wouldn't go on a really expensive HM but at least you will get to relax somewhere with your husband and just enjoy eachother's company. Then next year take a bigger trip.

She is such a generous person. She always does things fro everyone and it is never held over someone's head. My FH told me to stop being stubborn and just take it and pay it back to her before she goes home the day after. Our honeymoon was actually cheaper then I imagined. It is way under $4,000.00.

If you think you guys can save the money up to pay her back, I say take it. Just make sure you put together a payment plan that you are all comfortable with and be forthright.

Well we planned on just giving her the whole thing after we get married. To get it out of the way all together.

Then I think that you should do it--especially since she was nice enough to offer it to you.

Yes, I agree. I have to put my stubbornness aside for a day and call her back and accept it! Thanks for all your honest opinions and your suggestions!

I would agree to take it I mean you will be able to pay her back after the wedding with maybe the money you get as gifts from the wedding anyway right. Just saying if you invite generous people
