Horrible day and my future inlaws are driving me nuts.

Driving home from work I blew out a tire. I have no idea how it happened but I could see inside the tire.
So I was already in a bad mood and fh tells me about a conversation he had with ffil. We are moving into fhs grandmothers house soon and it has a very large backyard. When I was first pricing venues for our engagement party every place I showed to fmil she said was too expensive so I decided on the backyard at the house.
Now ffil doesn't want it in the backyard because 100 people will 'ruin the dirt'
How the heck do you ruin dirt? Its dirt! Hes like we can have it at some place for like $50 a person. Meanwhile every place i suggested was around that. I told fh i give up tell them just to tell me what time to show up. Ugh im about to say i dont want an engagement party.

Awww, sounds like a terrible day. Don't give up on the engagement party, maybe your FH can convince FFIL that 'dirt' doesn't get ruined. Or you could just book one of those places you were looking at and avoid conflict. Hope things are sorted out!

It must be pretty annoying that now having the engagement party in the backyard is a problem. They will probably come around. It will work out the way it's supposed to and tomorrow will be a better day.

Ugh I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this today. I'm sure that they will come around. Do you think there is a different reason why they are now against holding it there? The concept of ruining dirt isn't very logical! I think you should still hold it there. They were initially okay with it and will likely be fine again in the next few days.

It sounds like the inlaws have a huge attachement to your new house since it was fh's grandmas originally. You better watch out, if they are worried about the dirt, what happens when you try to paint or renovate...lol I'm an expert because my fil's are driving me nuts too! eeek sorry Hope today is better and I hope everything else goes smooth with the e-party.

Just fyi ffil isn't logical he's crazy lol.
And no it won't be in the backyard. They are paying for it so it'll be where they want it.
Meejack ffil grew up there so yeah he has an attachment. We've already started painting. We should have been in there months ago but fhs grandparents were hoarders and ffil doesnt want to throw anything away. But we have to get a mortgage to buy out his uncles half of it and if we are paying a mortgage we are doing what we want and i dont care.

Hahah oh god ... Ruining dirt! I can totally sympathize with you- my future in laws are literally the spawn of *****- I cannot stand them so I definitely understand your frustration! I would have fh explain to them your hurt because you looked once before and they shot you down!
