hi,

I really am not much help. We are going in October and I DEF am going to do this. I have a book about Maui at home that I read some things about it. There are a few different places that you can go to. Let me know I can bring it in tomorrow or bring in to the GTG if you going.

In Maui, they had horseback riding trips into the volcano (Mt. Halekalea sp?) - dormant of course. We didn't know about it before we got there and it looked really cool.

We went to hike the mountain and unfortunately the trail was covered and pretty stinky because the horses had just left ahead of us. We turned right around.

I did horseback riding in Maui and it was SPECTACULAR! I used Adventures on Horseback, don't let the name scare you, it was my first time riding a full-grown horse (I had only been on pony rides as a kid) and I didn't want to get off! The ride is an all day affair. You start off on a ranch and ride up a mountain where you park the horse, go for a little hike and have a picnic lunch under a waterfall and go for a swim (optional). You ride on to really beautiful cliffs with spectacular views of the Pacific. There was one part of the ride where you go down a narrow, winding trail that has a little drop on one side and then you cross a little river on the horse. I thought this was so cool, but my friend freaked out a little on this part. I have a bunch of pictures, which I can post when I get home if you like. It was one of my favorite experiences in Maui!
