I'm set on making my favors myself not it's just a matter of deciding what to make. I want something people will take with them and enjoy not leave behind throw out or collect dust.
Since we're having a fall wedding I thought something like this might be cute. Hot Chocolate Favors
Just small mason jars with layered hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows... a hanging thank you tag and maybe a little fabric to match the wedding colors.
I'm a big fan of edible favors, so yes, I'd definitely take it home.

Re: Hot Chocolate as favors?
I like the idea of it in a mason jar. I would totally take it home, use it and keep the jar for something else!

Re: Hot Chocolate as favors?
I was considering doing something like this... I had been thinking of putting together little prettily-wrapped boxes, inside each would be 2 packets of some kind of gourmet cocoa, a little bag of mini marshmallows, and a pair peppermint swizzle sticks or maybe chocolate covered spoons. I do like the jar idea too and think it presents beautifully! But I wonder, is it only one serving of cocoa? And if it's two or more, how do you get two even servings our with the layers like that?

I think anything edible is most likely to get taken.

Re: Hot Chocolate as favors?
i love that! I made these only with cookie mix a few years ago as DIY Christmas gifts a few years ago and they were pretty simple to make!

I was wondering the same thing think it looks like more than one it's a pretty hefty sized jar.... I would probably just layer a mixed together mix and mini marshmallows, then hang a thank you note with instructions for how much per cup on the back.

Re: Hot Chocolate as favors?
I'm really happy this idea got such a good response I'm even more excited about them now. OH and just an added little plus, I did the math on approximately 200 of the jars (16oz ball jars with lids) and it comes out to about 85 cents a jar. I'm thinking with the right recipe or premixed powder and the use of my mom's cricut machine these are going to cost less than a candle or other trinket favor but will fit our theme and feel more like a gift from us.
