I know most people say 1 year before to do the hotel block but I really want to cross things off of my list... do you think the hotel will think I am nuts?

Re: Hotel
I feel that way also sometimes that we'll say our wedding date and think we r crazy. If u want to get it crossed off your list I see no harm in at least giving the plcs your interested in a call to get some info and see what they tell u. Good Luck!

Re: Hotel
That was actually one of the first things that FH and I tried to do- we know our wedding location is a distance for a lot of our guests, and we wanted to scratch that off the list. However, the hotel we went with wouldn't even take the information from us, because they only book 1 year out or sooner for room blocks, so we can't even do it until March 2012!! Not sure if all hotels operate that way though... but we are going with this one b/c they operate a free shuttle.

Re: Hotel
I found that most hotels won't talk to you till pretty close to the one year mark also.

Re: Hotel
ok, this is starting to stress me... How do you know if you will need the hotel for your guests? How do you know how many rooms to book?
Our wedding is ending at 8:30 pm on a sunday... I have no idea how to gauge if people will just head home or take the monday off from work!!!

Re: Hotel
My venue is far for FH's family so I am going to see if I can block at least 10 rooms. Plus mine is going to end late (probably around 12). I think guests have a certain amount of time to book at the discounted rate so it doesn't hurt to get a hotel block and you can put that info in the invitation.
Abbam what hotel are you using? I was thinking Holiday Inn Stonybrook.

That is tough. I would probably just take into account the OOT guests, then add on as the rooms book up. You'll prob just have to stay on top of it bc I heard this is the biggest headache

Re: Hotel
I talked to three hotels and all told me that they cannot make blocks or reservations for more than one year in advance.

Re: Hotel
Question about hotels - do they require a min # of rooms? AND if you don't take up all those rooms - are you charged? I don't have too many out of town guests, but then sometimes our friends have stayed over if they don't want to drive home...
