hotel block

hotel block

When I talk to the hotel, do I need to know about how many rooms? Because I have no idea right now.

The most they will let you block is 20. There is no money involved so if you are not sure...I would just go with that amount. The guests have until 30 days prior to wedding to book them at the discounted rate the hotel gives you.

Some hotels do require you to put money down. The Inn at East Wind required me to pay for half of each room and if those rooms get booked I'll get the money back 30 days before the wedding.

What if those rooms do not get booked? You don't get your money back?

I have to look but I think if they don't get booked I have to pay for the whole room. That is why they don't recommend blocking too many at a time.

Re: hotel block

At my hotel, I was asked how many rooms I would be needing to block and I first said 20 but wasn't sure so she told me to block as many as I could now, in case I need more and they aren't available. So I blocked the most they allow which is 30 rooms. I do not have to pay for anything and if the rooms do not get blocked I do not get charged anything. They block the rooms in blocks of 15... so 2 months before the wedding, whatever isn't blocked in the first 15 rooms gets released back into their system as available and then a month before is the next cut off of 15 rooms... Hope that wasn't confusing...

Ditto for me except I was able to block 40 rooms at the Marriott in Islandia and they included transportation for my guests to and from my reception site. It was included in the price of the rooms which was very reasonable.

I can also get a shuttle (14 passanger van) but I don't think it will fit all the people. So if I opt not to use it, I get $150 off my room... I am looking to get a bus

Wait, to block you need to pay? Or if blocked rooms do not get booked, you have to pay? Guys, I am so confused.

No you shouldn't have to pay anything... I didn't have to pay anything and wont have to pay for anything if the rooms don't get blocked.

When we called the Roslyn Clairmont, if we booked rooms that weren't filled we were responsible for them and had to pay.

At the Glen Cove Mansion, you have until a month before the wedding until they release them if they're not booked and you don't pay. If you tell them you want to keep them blocked until the day of your wedding, then you're responsible.

I think every hotel has a different policy.
