I don't have many out-of-town guests. FH has his aunt, and her daughter coming from Maryland, and I have have 3 cousins coming from Maryland, who are staying with my grandfather. Everyone else is either from LI or Queens. Do you think it is still necessary to do a hotel block?? FMIL says no, and that she'll recommend a place for her sister to stay, but I'm still uncertain I need opinions please! Thanks...

Re: Hotel Block
Do you think anyone will want to stay at a hotel the night of the wedding? Maybe people that don't want to worry about driving home?
If you're concerned that rooms won't book up, maybe book up to the maximum number of rooms that you can without having to leave a guarantee.

Re: Hotel Block
i live in Queens and my RH is in Syosset.. so far my whole family & bridal party are the ones who have booked rooms because they don't want to worry about having to drive home afterward, especially since most will be drinking & the reception ends at 1am... i am going to set up shuttle service to pick them up and take them to the reception, then to bring them back at the end of the night... we only have a couple OOT guests, but i knew my friends and fam would want to stay over

Nevermind, I went on the other Hotel Block post, and it looks like there is free shuttle service for WM brides if you book with a certain hotel. I may do it afterall!

Which hotel is that? I called most hotels in the area and they offer a free shuttle if you book a certain number of rooms

Hi!
Yes, when we went to sign our contract at the WM Felicia gave us a list of hotels that are recommended by them. We booked at the Hilton Garden Inn Westbury. Their deal is if you book 10 rooms or more you get a shuttle for free for 2 people per room (but I'm sure they don't really count if there are more than 2 in a room). If you book less than 10 rooms you still get the shuttle but you have to pay $5 per person each way. The room mates for August were $159 standard and $179 jr suite (which is about $50 cheaper than the rates for a regular person booking a room that night). They also have a bar in the hotel that you can pay to keep open until 2AM for an additional fee. They're really helpful at the hotel if you wanted to call them and ask them anything. You should ask for Nadine, she's the one who has been helping me...........

Re: Hotel Block
Thank you so much. I did call them but they wouldnt allow me to book so far out and therefore couldnt hold 09 rates. I decided to go with La Quinta in garden city.

Re: Hotel Block
if doesn'thurt to block rooms at a hotel that won't make you gaurentee any money for unbooked rooms. Then guest have the option to stay or not stay at no price to you.
