hotel block

hotel block

after all the researching and pricing.. we decided on TWO hotels, 20 rooms each, so 40 total.

so far...

ONE room has been booked!

today's the last day before they release the rooms, and the manager said that there is another wedding trying for the rooms....
i'm just scared that we're going to loose the shuttle.
FH and I were going to stay there too and just take the shuttle to the hotel rather then have to pay for a car to take us.

and my cousins are expecting a shuttle- or else they would have stayed at the other hotel for a lower rate and nicer rooms...

what do i do?

I would get on all these people who were expecting a shuttle and tell them to get off their a$$es and book their rooms. If they dont, its not your problem!

We're going through almost the same thing now...and I have given up on them. Its now their problem.

I've told everyone I could.. and none of them seem to care.

my only concern is a family that had moved and their invite was sent to their old address and I just got their new address and still have to send them a new invite.. so i'm not sure if they're coming, BUT I gave them the hotel info and our wedding website has all our info on it.

Re: hotel block

we booked 20 rooms in one hotel and 10 in another and including us, only a total of 8 rooms were booked. We called and called people and no one else booked rooms even people that said they were originally. I'd not count on that shuttle, give up the room block, and start making other arrangements so you don't have to do that last minute.

How long will the hotels hold the rooms for you, or until how close to the wedding? (a general question -- my parents are talking about blocking hotels soon but my wedding's not until May 2012. If there's a reason not to block so far in advance, it'd be good to know)

Most hotels have pretty lenient cancellation policies. If things don't pan out with the shuttle, your cousins could still cancel their room and book elsewhere.

We tried booking in advance with some and they wouldn't even do it until at most a year ahead of time. The rates are supposed to be better in 'advance' but they really weren't when we did ours. Also, we wished we didn't block with one hotel when it got closer to the wedding b/c the reviews of it changed and also I think it went under new management or renovations or something, but we weren't happy with them any more.
