I'm getting married at Fox Hollow next June. I have alot of out of town guests, so I am definitely going to need a hotel block. I called the FOx Hollow Inn which is next door to the Fox Hollow, but they want $220 with the discount. I want to find something cheaper for my guests.
Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in that area? It's on the Jericho Turnpike, close to Westbury.
TIA

Re: hotel block
When my best friend got married at Fox Hollow in 2009 she did her hotel block at the Marriott in Melville. She did a shuttle to transport all the guests to and from the wedding back to the hotel. The shuttle ride was super quick (less than 10 minutes) and it worked out perfectly. If I remember correctly the rooms were $129 per night. Hotel was clean, organized, well kept and what you would expect of a Marriott. I know there is a Best Western super close to Fox Hollow but not sure about pricing, cleanliness etc. HTH! I am working on my hotel block right now as well (down in Long Beach/Rockville Center) and I'm having a rough time! Good luck!

Re: hotel block
I called Marriott and I believe it was $139 per room. But the shuttle was not included in the price. They gave me some shuttle vendors to call but it was adding upwards of $1000 to my expenses since I also have a lot of out of town guests. But Marriott is good for a lot of out of town guests because you can book big blocks at once and not have to worry about running out of rooms.
I wound up going with La Quinta - $159 including breakfast and 2 shuttles for every 15 rooms booked. I'll still probably have to book a few extra shuttle runs - but it's only $75 per run. I don't get married until August but so far overall I have been happy with them. They let me book 20 rooms at once and then as they got filled added more. They are out of rooms to add but in total I have 40 rooms in my block since I sent out the hotel info long before the invites.

That's very helpful! Thank you. I'm going to make all of my calls today. I definitely want to find a hotel that has free shuttles.

You have to weigh out your options. If you dont get the block at FH Inn then you will either have to pay for shuttle service or let your guests drive after a night of drinking,
If there is one thing that I have learned during this year and a half process, its that the people who want to be there will be there. That price is really not that bad for a June wedding. Mine is about the same price and Im getting married in 9 days.
Another thing is that your room is free at FH Inn for having your wedding at FH....anywhere else, its not going to be. The rooms are fantastic at FH too.

Don't get caught up trying to weigh all the options, though. If your guests drove to the wedding but book a hotel off premises, they have to be responsible enough to not drink or have someone take them. We tried to think through all of the situations but it got too crazy - we got a room block at Fox Hollow, but FH's family mostly won't stay there. We discussed the idea of doing shuttles to prevent drinking - then both sides of our family basically told us they wouldn't use shuttles because having to leave and be picked up at set times was NOT appealing. Go with what YOU want, and your guests can either book where you prefer, or find something suitable to their own needs.

Right but she has the option to have it at a hotel literally 8 steps away from the reception hall, no shuttle bus needed. Those who want to stay will pay the extra price to stay. It shouldnt really be based on the price. If they dont want to stay, then yes the responsibility falls on them to be able to drive.
Our hotel is 7 miles from the hall, the shuttle bus runs all night long starting 30 mins before hte wedding and ending 30 minutes after...stays in the parking lot all night to wait for guests if they want to leave at whatever time.
So you have alternatives when getting a shuttle bus, but if you have the opportunity to have it right next door, thats a win win situation.

Re: hotel block
One thing that we did not think of was to ask the hotel to add the cost of the shuttle into the price of the room, say up the per room cost by $10.00 a night. Another bride did this.

I never thought to ask about that. That would be a great idea.

Re: hotel block
we're getting married at the woodlands, which is right down the block from foxhollow...we blocked rooms at the hilton garden inn in melville, which i guess is 10-15 minutes away. they provide a shuttle for $300, but we made an agreement that if we have 30 rooms booked they'll comp it, and we very well might. if not, i figure its a drop in this ridiculously overpriced bucket for people to get there safe. the rooms are $139 a night...i didn't think of adding it to the room cost but thats not a bad idea.

I already blocked my rooms at The Viana. I dealt with Kim who is extremly helpful and so nice! The rate is not bad either.

Re: hotel block
Unfortunately I do not have an alternate suggestion, but we were married at the FH and blocked rooms at the inn and could not be happier with our experience. Our wedding was a Sunday and they kept the hotel bar open after our wedding ended at 10:30pm. All our guests staying kept the party going in there. I received a ton of compliments on how nice the rooms were, and the complimentary breakfast the next day was great!
