So We have 3 couples coming from PA... Around 7 couples from NJ possibly 2 from CA .... The rest is Nassau & Suffolk
From NJ, I received word that 4couples will drive Back to NJ the same day...
HELP! Do I need to do a Hotel block? Should I call the Guests and ASK them if they need a hotel block? What is the minimun required to Block a Hotel? What if I block 10 rooms and only 4 rooms are filled? Do i have to pay extra for the other rooms?
Sorry but i am SOOO dumb with this!!!!
***UPDATED QUESTION***** How much is YOUR Room??? Just to get an idea of how much do ppl hve to pay! Is there a Discount for Hotel block rooms?!

it all depends on the hotel...but typically you don't have to book all the rooms and you are not required to pay for unused ones. I will assume at least you and FH would stay at the hotel, but if not I would ask what happens if no one books. I would block a few rooms just in case because you never know.

We blocked 10 rooms w/ our hotel - but in our contract, it's clear that if only 4 rooms are used up, we are not responsible for paying the hotel. Just make sure when you call the hotel that you mention this - so that it's part of your contract. I don't think it's a bad idea to get a hotel block if you have guests that are spending the night. For me, probably 8 of the rooms will be used up and it works out perfectly.

See this is the problem... I will be staying at the Marriot... knowing the guest (most from his family side) IF they stay in the SAME hotel as ME, they will BE coming to OUR ROOM in the morning to see me!!! OH BOY trust me!!!!!! They wil COME to see me and want to spend time wiht me!!!!!! So i dont wan to block the Rooms in teh SAME hotel as I am staying the nihgt before the Day of...

it cant hurt to get a block....they dont charge you for it. you may end up having friends that want to spend the night, you never know. and whatever rooms dont get used are not a big deal.

Our hotel block we did 10 rooms. They only block the rooms until 30 days before the wedding. If people don't book all of them by 30 days before they just go back into circulation for other people to book.

Try the Hilton Garden Inn in Westbury, Holiday Inn Westbury, Hyatt Place in Garden City or Hampton Inn Garden City
You can reserve a block there and not be liable for the rooms if they block doesn't get booked

I know EVEN if my Room is in a different FLOOR, OH trust me THEY will still try to come and I DONT WANT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

definitely do a different hotel then! I'd be so frazzled if people kept coming to the room!!!!
I'm at the Hampton Inn in garden city, and its 119 a night for our block. We have a TON of out of town people though so we got a good rate for blocking 25 rooms for 3 nights. but any unused rooms you are not responsible for.

I booked a hotel block for 11 rooms (a suite for us) and if they are not booked, the rooms go back into the general pool of rooms and anyone can book them. my guests would not get the discounted rate.
Our suite room is $200 for the night of.

Our suite is 199, every other room which is a standard room is 99. I wrote the price on the card that the hotel gave us and put it in the STD
