So I'm starting to make my phone calls and research hotel blocks. I'm looking for any and all opinions regarding the following:
Four Points Sheraton Hilton Garden Inn (Plainview) Huntington Hilton Melville Marriott Marriott Courtyard in Farmingdale
Or are there any others you'd recommend? I'm getting married at the North Ritz Club, so I'd like it to be no more than 5-7 miles away, have a shuttle service (even if it's a fee), and an option to keep a bar open late.

Re: Hotel Block Poll
We looked at the Melville Marriott and really liked it BUT they won't keep the bar open late! That did it for us. Our reception ends at midnight - the bar there closes at 12:30 NO EXCEPTIONS!
It was very important for both FH and I that we have a bar open for after the wedding. They won't do it no matter what.

Re: Hotel Block Poll
i called the huntingon hilton, marriot in melville, 4 points sheraton and holiday inn. the holiday had the best price, but i wasn't crazy about it and they wouldn't keep the bar open. four points was the most expensive, then the marriot. the hilton was the best priced and they kept the bar open until 3:30-4am for us. they also had a very nice breakfast spread (that my ILs paid for) the next morning!
any questions feel free to FM

Re: Hotel Block Poll
Last time I stayed at the Huntington Hilton, my room was @250/night and had stains on the carpet and smelled like mold so that's not my favorite place.

Re: Hotel Block Poll
We decided to go with the Melville Marriott. I looked at 4 different hotels near the RH and they had the most beautiful hotel I saw, and the prices were really competitive for the block. The people have been extremely helpful and nice so far in the process. (We have 4 rooms booked by friends already, which is super exciting!)
I don't need the bar/lounge kept open later (I never even asked) since I'm not a night person and our reception should be done by 6 pm, so that wasn't a concern for me.
I love how walking in, it feels like a special place. My mom turned to me when we walked in and said 'it feels like the Contemporary in Disney World!' and she seemed so happy. So I'm proud to have my OOT relatives and all of FH's family (as well as us!) stay there.
I can tell you after July 19th how it goes!

So far I've gotten $139 from Huntington Hilton (they need to call me back with the rest of the details) and $135 from Four Points.
I'm waiting to hear back from people at the other places.

Re: Hotel Block Poll
So...this day next year...May 1...is our wedding. Our quote from the Marriott is $109 per night. Rooms are nice, comfy, clean and spacious. The bar does not stay open late, but our reception ends at 1:00 am and by the time we all get ready, leave and head back to the hotel, its past 2 and people are going to be tired.... esp if we have brunch. but yea, it was inexpensive, convenient and bigger than the others.
Have you tried Homewood Suites? They have great rooms too.

Re: Hotel Block Poll
I used the Farmingdale Marriott and they were not very good. I had a block of 10 and they were telling my guests that there were no rooms available when I only had 6 rooms filled. There were 5 weddings in the hotel that weekend and they were doing a horrible job of directing people. They were giving out OOT bags to the wrong people (they tried to give them to us when we checked in but we told them wrong wedding). They were also horrible for breakfast the next morning (service was bad, kept having to ask them to replenish clean plates, a lot of confusion with the vouchers).

Re: Hotel Block Poll
I looked into 4 Points, Hilton Garden Inn, and Melville Marriott. Marriott had the cheapest prices, but they didn't have a shuttle, even for a fee. They just suggested a van company to hire separately, but that was more expensive than the $375 fee that the other two hotels charge. 4 Points and the Hilton Garden Inn differed by $5 (Hilton more expensive) but the Hilton is brand new and I loved the fact that it had an indoor pool and the bar area had a beautiful fire place for pics (I'm getting ready there) and felt more open to me. I've stayed at the 4 Points and it was very nice. Either one would be a good choice but I went with Hilton Garden Inn. Laurie has been great to deal with!

Re: Hotel Block Poll
Hilton Garden Inn has been wonderful to us! We are doing everything you said you wanted to do! We got a shuttle to take our guests back and forth to RH, it wasa $100 to keep the bar open until 2am (and it is ours privately for that extended time) and even have a breakfast set up for the next morning, this has been one of the few things I found easy and stress free in the process.... We have 29 rooms booked, its going to be CRAZY!!! So excited!

Re: Hotel Block Poll
We just blocked off the Courtyard Marriot in Farmingdale. The price is a little higher than the ones you found $149 a night but it includes the free shuttle. The rooms looked clean and new. The sales rep was very helpful, the bar can stay open at our request, and there is a bar with music and such in walking distance.
In response to the above comment, we did take her comment into consideration when blocking, however, we read several other reviews that were positive. I also made it VERY clear to the woman that it was imperative that my guests have accomodations and shuttle service. I even mentioned my concerns regarding the bad review. She went on to tell me that Friday evenings usually only accomodate one wedding at a time. She said that for this Friday (May 8th..my wedding will be on the 7th) she had no reservations for any weddings. This place really seems to meet our needs and I feel confident we are in good hands.

I would pick the four points sheraton, or the one that is that the closest to your RH?

We blocked at the Hyatt in Hauppauge and it was beautiful and they were very nice...not sure if that area is right for you though?

Re: Hotel Block Poll
I would stay away from the Huntington Hilton. We were looking to have our reception there, but they took out a bunch of inclusions they originally offered us. Not only did they nickel and dime us, but they did nothing to earn my business.
I know room blocks are different than my situation, but they were not very reliable and pleasant to work with. Your room block is the last thing you want to worry about the week of your wedding.
