all of the hotels i checked out did not charge to create a block.

It may depend on the hotel. Generally speaking I don't think it does, but I would say your best bet is to check with the hotels you're thinking of using.

Us either. The only one that wanted anything from us was the Garden City Hotel wanted something for our suite if we booked it. We stayed at the Wingate Inn instead. The suite was huge & very reasonably priced.

At East Wind we had to put down half of a 10 block room, which came out to be 1K (we will get it back after the wedding) But other than that, I don't think you normally put money down.

Re: hotel block question

we blocked rooms at different hotels for our guests to give them a choice of location and price--and none of them asked for a deposit in order to block rooms off, and we did Hilton Garden Inn and Holiday Inn, and also Danfords. we are staying at Danfords and to hold our room they just needed our credit card #

The hotel I blocked at had no money down Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge and the Hilton in Hungtington told me they don't require a deposit for the room either (just wouldn't let me block rooms this early)

We didn't have to put anything down to block rooms but, since we blocked so many, we were financially responsible for a certain percentage if they were not reserved.
