How far in advance should I do this? I am planning on sending out my STDs at the end of May/beginning of June and I am sending along the Hotel Info with it. I just feel like it's a little far in advance to block the rooms but I don't think i'd feel comfortable sending out the hotel info if the rooms aren't officially blocked. I already know which hotel we're using because it's the only one that provides shuttle service to and from our RH.
What do you girls think?

Re: Hotel Blocking
I did my block in May, so about 13 months before. I believe most hotels let you do it around the 1 year mark. I would wait to send the STD's, because then you can put in the info with the rates.

Re: Hotel Blocking
I blocked my rooms at least some of them when I booked the hall. they said i can always add more if need be. Which is what im going to have to do, but I just wanted to be sure that I had most of them blocked.

Re: Hotel Blocking
thanks girls!
So I will wait until maybe the week before I send them out and actually block the rooms (which will be a little under a year).

Re: Hotel Blocking
I blocked my 14 months ahead of time. I know that the guests couldn't actually book the rooms until one year before.

Re: Hotel Blocking
Many places will not let you do it more then a year in advance. I recommend doing it ASAP you would be surprised how fast the blocks fill up. The weekend of my wedding the hotel we used had three or four weddings.

I don't think there is any fee for blocking the rooms. I do know that if you block a certain amount of rooms and don't guarantee them the day of that you have to pay some kind of fee or maybe even the price of the room. That's why when it gets closer you need to keep checking that the rooms are being filled.

There's not usually fees associated with it, but many hotels want you to put down a credit card when you block them off.
