I'm getting married at Leonard's and blocking rooms is driving me nuts There seem to be no reasonable, decent hotels in this area.
I've found these hotels.
Inn at Great Neck at a rate of $190 plus tax.
The Andrew at a rate of $179 plus tax
The Adria Ramada Hotel at a rate of $145 plus tax
Or The Anchor Inn at a rate of $111a night plus tax.
I guess, the question would be what hotel would you block??? Or what would you do??? Thanks!

Re: Hotel Blocking Driving me Crazy!!! Need opinions.
I am giving my guests 3 options of a very basic motel, a moderate hotel and an expensive luxury hotel and they can choose what they're comfortable paying.
Most hotels release any unbooked rooms a month before and some require a guaranteed minimum.
There's a thread where you can contact the LI visitors bureau and they will send you bids from various hotels-- really works. Plus, do searches on specific hotels on these boards and if you have time visit some of them.
Hope this helps-- hotels were stressing me out too as there was not one perfect place for everybody.

You should check out www.hotelplanner.com. I'm pretty sure thats the website. One of the other brides had posted this awhile back and she said it worked great for her. The different hotels kind of bid for your business, giving you the best prices. If you can't decide on one, give tyour guests the different options and let them decide! HTH

I like the idea of giving people options. We have stayed at a hotel about 4 times for weddings and only one of those weddings gave us an option on different places. Thanks Jackie!

The Ramada does not seem like a bad hotel, but I agree def. check out www.hotelplanner.com. I went on there and they quoted me a couple of different hotels near the Watermill. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Thanks girls! I tried hotel planner already. All the hotels that answered back were pretty far from my RH, up to 26 miles away

I live pretty close to all of these hotels but I've never been to any of them. What I can tell you is that the Anchor Inn is more of a 'hey we still live at home but want to go somewhere to have sex tonight' kind of hotel. Also, not sure if you have actually driven past them but I think the first two are much closer to Leonards. The last two aren't that far, but not that close either. Hope this helps!

Re: Hotel Blocking Driving me Crazy!!! Need opinions.
Did your RH suggest any? We actually got 'points' towards wedding upgrades for using preferred vendors.
It will also depend on how many guests you have. We're having a TON of OOT guests who will probably stay for two nights, which counts as two rooms. You only need 10 nights for most hotels, so the number of guests will prob determine the number of hotels you can block at. Some hotels also offer transportation to and from reception.

Re: Hotel Blocking Driving me Crazy!!! Need opinions.
We're only giving one option this is because we didn't want to have an issue with meeting out minimum, but we kept it at a price our guests could afford. We are doing the marriott Islandia, ant including tax its comming to about 150.00 a night. I think that 190 a night is a little high. I would go with one that is 145.00 per night. Thats a very reasonable rate.
