Hotel Blocking question *please advice*

I only have a dz or so invites that need hotel blocks. Doesnt even mean they will come.

My wedding is on a Sunday Should I block it for only sunday into monday or sat to monday what do ppl usually do?

Is it worth it to block rooms or just send a little card with recommendations of local hotels???

Also if I block rooms is it worth it to get accomendation cards printed to match my invites or could I get something from the hotel?? Or print myself?

I blocked rooms at the Islandia Marriott and they were very helpful. My wedding was on a Sat. afternoon and they let me block and reserve the room rate for the Friday and Saturday night. I only had 10 rooms and they locked me in a discounted rate. I wouldn't worry about printing matching directional cards. The hotel can provide them for you.

I would find a hotel that has 'no stings attached' that is, if the rooms aren't booked by a certain date they are open to the general public and you owe them nothing. I would then block rooms for both nights just in case but only 1/2 of what you block for Sunday on Saturday night since most people won't stay the day before but they aren't stuck if they want to and there are no rooms open. In regards to amount also think along the lines of ...Are you having a rehearsal dinner or something the night before that they may be coming early for??

As for the cards, I'm printing them myself. I'm making my own invites so it's not too much more work, but others i know have just included a card that the hotel had given them and that was fine.

Hope this helps

It all depends on your hotel

What I did was I blocked the hotel from the day before the wedding and checkout being the morning after the wedding. Most of my guests ended up staying in the hotel the night of the wedding but I had a pretty big number of people from out of town that stayed the night before as well.
As far as the hotel card it is totally up to you, I had pocketfold invitations so I made one of the insert cards to include the hotel information on them.
Shop around for hotel prices and see which one would be more convenient to your RH and your guests.

usually hotels let you block 15 without any financial obligation so you might as well just do that...do it for both nights and if they dont fill up no big deal...

if you do more then 15 is when you have to gaurentee a certain amount..

so just do the 15..cant hurt you ya know?

Normally when you reserve room blocks at a hotel they block them off at that rate for a few nights. I think you should block rooms, even if its only 10, because this will offer your guests a discounted rate. Tessa did my invites too and i have an insert for Accomodations. she can do that for you.

Also, some local guests (who plan to get wasted or want a night away from their kids) may want to stay in the hotel too. We had a bunch of locals stay @ the hotel where we blocked rooms.
