Does the hotel send you something telling you how many people booked a room or do you have to contact them?

You would typically contact them the day after your room block needs to be reserved. However, I did check with my hotels a few times before the date to get lists.

I contact them and they fax me over a list. I've done it twice so far.

You have to contact them...I went the night mine ended just in case I needed to do some last minute calling, but they were all booked up!!

The easiest way to do it is to call and ask to speak with the sales department. Then request a list of the rooms that are blocked under the XXX/YYY block.

We always called them to check how many rooms were booked.
I didnt check up... I figured my guests are adults and can book hotel rooms on their own. I wasnt being mean, I just had more important things to do with planning.
