has anyone started looking into hotels yet? I am trying to decide if its better to go with the Inn at Fox Hollow and Another hotel, either the Huntington Hilton or the Executive Inn, or just go wtih the cheaper options.
What do you ladies think?

Re: hotel blocks
i recently posted this too.. christine informed me that they will not block until a year in advance.
i think the INN at FH is a little expensive and i have heard they are pretty strict and knowing our friends and family they will want to continue the party. and there no bar.
we still have to check out the other hotels that are close but someone also suggested the melville marriott

Re: hotel blocks
Victor Scotto at the Inn at Fox Hollow has already said they will create a Block, the wedding is about a year and 2 months away, so getting close to the 1 year mark,
I am not so concerned about the after party, not looking to have one, and a lot of our friends are not party people, so it would be people coming to one of the suites to hang out and talk, like the Bridal party or something.
my concern is being able to fill 7 of the 10 rooms for a block at the higher rate. Granted, you can put more than one couple at the IFH rooms, with the queen fold out bed, so people could share, but I am concerned about it.

Re: hotel blocks
I know when I block my rooms I am going to go with the cheapest rate - as long as it is not a dump

Re: hotel blocks
from what I have heard, the hotels around the area are usually around 130-140, and I was told 189 for Fox Hollow, which is why the hesitation. If it was a great difference, like 100 a night, forget it, but at a 40 difference, I dunno

Re: hotel blocks
IFH also includes a brunch the next morning too right?? that may make the $40 difference worth it.

If that is the case than I would go with that. If people do not want to pay the price you give them than they will just have to look elsewhere on their own.

Janna - I asked my guests what they would prefer, staying right next door, or about 10mins away. They all said they would rather pay the extra $40 to stay next door, so in January, I am booking my hotel block with Fox Hollow. Also, I went to check out the rooms at Executive Inn/Best Western, honestly, it was extremely small and it smelt funny. That is just my opinion.
However, I have heard wonderful things about the Huntington Hilton and they ahve a shuttle.
