Hotel Blocks

Hotel Blocks

So, my next thing to take care of are hotel blocks. I'm a bit clueless. I am estimating about 30-40 OOT's, so around 15-20 rooms or so. Our wedding is in Massapequa, we live in Huntington. I'm going to look at the hotels along Rt 110.

What kinds of questions do I need to ask? Does anyone know if the Hilton or Melville Marriott does a brunch the morning after? I'm also looking into shuttles to and from the reception. Any advice is appreciated, I feel overwhelmed! Thanks!

Re: Hotel Blocks

These are questions that I asked:

1. What is the minimum number of rooms I have to block?
2. When do the rooms need to be booked?
3. Can rooms be added or taken away from the block?
4. Is breakfast included in the block? If not, is there a restaurant on site that does breakfast and if so can my guests get a discount?
5. Do you have a shuttle? If so, is it included? If not, can you reccommend a company?
6. Do you provide hotel cards that can be included in my invitations?
7. Since I am doing a room block, will I get a discount on the room for me and FH?

That's all I can think of right now. HTH!

Also...make sure that you do not have to give them a credit card to secure the room block. Out of the 20 hotels I called only one wanted this and IMO, I just don't think it is necessary and it is a risk you are taking.

Re: Hotel Blocks

We used the Melville Mariott. They do this all the time so they will tell you everything without even asking. They do not have a shuttle.....we just booked one through our limo company. THey can do a brunch for you the next day and have different choices or you can run a tab at the restaurant. We booked a block of 10 and added rooms on as they booked up. We also booked a suite for us for 2 nights (fri for me and sat for both). The staff was amazing and very helpful the day of.
