At what point should we do this? I have about 7 months to go should I be getting this done already?

I did mine back in June, and I have about 7 1/2 months to go. I think you are right on schedule if you do them now. (The only reason I did them that early was because I am anal about getting things done quickly)

I blocked my rooms as well as soon as I booked the reception site because the block price is only good until one month prior to the wedding.

Do them asap because we are getting married in a very busy month--graduations, communions, etc. I booked back in July and I faced some problems. Good luck

Just got the blocks in one hotel...just need to do the other and I am done. Gosh hotels on LI are expensive.

We booked ours about a month ago too. We didn't have a problem with LI but our NYC hotels were a little crazy
