I got an email from the hotel that I blocked rooms with that the price was decreased from $149 a night to $99 a night! Everyone should check with their hotel before sending out their invites to see if you can either get a cheaper deal somewhere else or negotiate a new price. I'm going with Courtyard Republic blah blah blah in Farmingdale (could they come up with a more complicated name?!)

Re: Hotel blocks - good news!
That's amazing. I heard that alot of hotel chains are reducing prices to get people to travel more in this horrible economy.
ETA: I just checked my place online- their rates INCREASED! I got the price at 145 which is like 55 bucks cheaper than the normal rate!

my hotel is booked solid for the weekend of my wedding already, so I think my price is sticking.

Re: Hotel blocks - good news!
I just called my woman about blocking more rooms and she was all like, 'Well, nobody has reserved any rooms yet.' And I said, 'Umm, the wedding is in JULY. People receive the information about the hotel from us in March.' Don't question my needing more rooms!!!!

I checked the email again and it was because there's some winter special. So if your wedding is after April, you may have different rates. I was actually surprised April is still considered winter but lucky for me, it is!

Wow, that's awesome!
I don't know if I should push my luck with mine though...don't know if they're going to be lower than 85!
Gotta love December
