Hotel for guests

We don't have many OOT guests, and the majority of them either will be staying with family or used to live on long island and know whats around. Recently I've been asked by guests who live on long island but don't want to drive home after where I'm getting rooms.

FH and I were planning on spending the night together, not really partying with everyone. Am I supposed to book rooms regardless, for the wedding party and others?

Re: Hotel for guests

You should at least block rooms for your out of town guest!! We used the Hampton Inn in Farmingville and it was great we also stayed there and got the sweet that night!! We didn't party either!!!

Re: Hotel for guests

go check out some hotels near your reception venue.. Arrange a room block at the ones you like the best.. You should block off as many rooms you think you will need to accomodate your OOT guests.

Re: Hotel for guests

Blocking rooms can be expensive everyone-especially for brides who don't have many out of town guests. The minimum of rooms booked is sometimes 10! Laura given your situation I think you could help them find places, but you don't have to reserve the rooms for them. You're a bride not a travel agent. LOL, you could do a little more for OOT BP memebers.

Re: Hotel for guests

Everywhere we called we had to reserve a minimum of 10 and give a nice sized deposit- I guess it depends upon the hotel.

Re: Hotel for guests

we didn't have to pay anything and we weren't responsible if the rooms weren't used..we booked 20..you shouldn't give a hotel your business if they ask for a credit card or tell you you're responsible..

Re: Hotel for guests

We blocked off ten rooms for OOT guests. We are not responsible for ones we don't use, no credit card was given.

Our wedding will be over at 5:30 and no, we will not be having a party afterwards. As we are leaving for our HM the next afternoon I really just wanted to go back to our hotel (we have an entirely different one) and relax. We are staying at the Inn at Fox Hollow and guests are in Hauppauge. I didn't want to be dragged into an after hours party.

Re: Hotel for guests

We blocked rooms and it didn't cost us anything.

Pick a hotel that won't make you put down a deposit. We used the Huntington Hilton. There policy at the time was that if you blocked 20 rooms and they got booked by your guests you got a free hm suite for the wedding night. If the rooms didn't book by a certain date, the hotel opened them up to anyone.

Re: Hotel for guests

thanks girls,
We're getting married in Kings Point, the closest hotels are pretty expensive like the Great Neck Inn.Maybe on our wedding website, we'll put a link to area hotels or something. I have a feeling, a lot of people are just going to do their own thing.
