Hotel for night of wedding

Hotel for night of wedding

FH and I went to check out some hotels today for our wedding night. We are getting married on Sunday, June 19. We want a place with a bar that'll be open til 10 or 11 pm or so. (Wedding ends at 6 pm so that's plenty of time for our after party.)

We checked out the following places today:
1. Fox Hollow hotel (very nice, but no bar... the bar next door is closed Sunday)
2. Hampton Inn Jericho - no bar
3. La quinta Inn - bar closed Sunday
4. Garden City hotel- very nice, has a bar that will be open on Sunday
5. Viana Hotel- not so crazy about the hotel but it does have a bar open til 11

I think I am leaning towards the Garden City Hotel except I feel like it's kinda pricey for the less than 12 hours we will be there. The Viana hotel would work except that while we were there today, around 6, the bar was dead. At least if we were at the Garden City's hotel bar after 6, there will be people drinking with us... (I dont think many of our guests will head to our after party.. so it's gonna be me and FH with the patrons of the bar,)

Do you guys have any suggestions for a reasonably priced, comfortable hotel with a bar open on Sunday nights that will have patrons?

what time does your reception end? Because I know in all honesty that most brides and grooms even with a bar dont usually make it back to the bar. You are so tired from the whole days events. And whats more fun are room parties. I went with Hampton Inn because 1. by the time we get out of the hall( reception is over at 12:30) its going to be almost 1:30 and after probably not being able to sleep to being up early I highly doubt we are going to want to do anything but take off our clothes and sleep. 2. most of my family who is staying over night said they are going to bring stuff and party in the rooms. 3. Most of these hotel bars close between 12-2 especially if noone is in them even if they promised to stay open.

HTH

Just to add

We went to a wedding out of state and we never made it to the bar we were so tired and from what we heard neither did the bride and groom

I hear ya on being tired ... but I dunno, the wedding is over at 6 pm... eventhough I will prolly be tired, I feel like I might have an hour or two left in me to drink a few cocktails... maybe not. But I want that option just in case....

I'm not planning on keeping the bar open at the hotel. probably just invite everyone back to our suite. Our hotel provides refrigerators in the rooms so those will be put to use for the drinks!

hi!

We are doing the HIlton Garden Inn in Westbury and I think they'll keep the bar open until 2am if you spend 125 or more at the bar. Our Wedding is a Sunday night also.

Ahh sorry, don't know if there will be patrons though! Didn't put that in my original post.

im not sure if they have a bar but look into the andrew hotel, its reasonably priced, boutique hotel

thanks, guys! the andrew hotel is booked solid the night of our wedding... the hilton garden inn doesn't really have a bar. the marriot could work, but it's only a lil cheaper than the garden city hotel. for a few bucks more i'd rather spring for the garden city...

i really liked the fox hollow hotel but no bar! WAAAHHH!!!

I am booked at WM as well and we booked the Hyatt Place in Garden City. Its really nice, they have a bar, and complimentary breakfest!

If your wedding is over at 6pm what about considering an offsite bar for everyone to gather?

We stayed at the Fox Hollow with over 70 guests and our wedding ended at 1am....many people gathered in a suite and it worked out perfectly!

meeting up at an off-site bar is a good idea except that the wedding is a sunday and i think most people would want to head home afterwards since they have work the next day...

We booked our rooms at Viana Hotel and Spa...they have both a bar and a game room where your guests can hang out...even if its just your guests staying at the hotel you will still have a great time...it will be like your wedding part 2 just with only CLOSE friends/family :)

@ dfed1022: thanks... i agree with you except that i think most people will be heading home after the wedding and so it will just be me and my FH....
