Hotel in Athens, Greece

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Athens that is walking distance to many sights - i.e. acropolis, Parthenon, etc..
or a hotel that is near public transportation to the many sights.
This will be our first trip to Greece, so we are not familiar with all it has to offer...
Any advice is appreciated

We will only be in Athens for 2 nights, and would like a 3 star hotel or above.

When we stay in Athens we always stay at the Emmantina HOtel which is located in the best part of Athens - Glyfada (beach side)....

Although Glyfada is nice to stay, it is not convenient for all the site seeing in Athens. You should try to stay in Kolonaki or Plaka. My suggestions are Periscope Hotel or Grande Bretagne or even Electra Palace. St. George Lykavitos is also very nice!!

We are leaving for our HM in Greece on May 14th.. we are doing 3 nights in athens, 4 nights santorini, and 4 nights mykonos.
Athens we are staying at the Davani Palace, they have a restaraunt that overlooks the acropolis, and at nightime its breathtaking! It's very close to everything!
