Hotel Question
I hate to ask, but does anyone know anything about the Floral Park Motor Lodge? We already have rooms blocked at the Wingate in Garden City and I would like to offer our out of town guests a less expensive option. The Floral Park Motor Lodge doesn't look like much from the outside, but it has the same ratings from expedia and can be about $40 cheaper per night. It's also much closer to ur Stewart Manor wedding. I am going to have to go check it out, but I thought I would ask about here too for recommendations (positive or negative). Thanks so much for any info you have!

We booked the Floral Park Motor Lodge ...
For our guests ... we wanted a hotel near my house, since I live in NHP and most out of town guests will be on my side. It's not bad - I mean really, it is just a room for them to sleep in - it's clean and neat. It was either that or Holiday INN which wanted more a night and where I had to make a guarantee of 10 rooms - or something like that. My mom thought it was better to go with FPML too. At the FPML - they hold as many rooms as you want and a month before, they call you and notify you of the rooms booked and you can either tell them to release the hold or hold more. I thought overall they were reasonable and very nice. I think our rate was $109 ... I'm not sure, but I can let you know for sure, if you want! Good Luck

We booked the Floral Park Motor Lodge ...
Thanks Cira. I sort of feel the same way a clean room with a bed is all they need. And it's not too far from my mothers house in Bayside. Most of my family is from out of town too and are not used to NY/LI hotel prices. I had to talk him into it, but FH and I are going to check it out ourselves one night this week. Thanks for the info!

Prices?
HI- I am getting married at Stewart Manor (Christine, we've chatted before I think!)and will have quite a few people staying from out of town. Stewart Manor suggested Floral Park Motor Lodge, so I was going to look into it...can you share the pricing information once you get it please? Also, how far in advance do you block rooms?? Thanks so much!

Prices?
Of course I'll pass along any info!! I sort of figure the sooner the better with hotel blocking. It doesn't cost anything and I'd rather have it done too early instead of getting shut out.

Prices?
I got married in October and since my reception was at the Sand Castle, I blocked rooms at the Floral Park Motel because it was so close. And one of those guests was my MIL and she had no problem with the room. I actually stayed there one New Year's Eve and the room was like any other typical hotel room and very clean (which is the key)! They even have continental breakfast. They were very nice to work with -- I thought I would have a problem because since I got married on Columbus Day Weekend, I thought they might have a 2 night minimum, but they didn't. I think the rate was $109. I know the name makes you think of some seedy roadside motel, but they hold all kinds of conventions, etc, there and it's highly rated. Good luck in your planning!!

Thanks Bearsbabe!
Like you said, 'motor lodge' and even the appearance made me think that its a little seedy, but it is operated by an international hotel company and has 3 stars with expedia. FH agreed to go check it out. Marnles...it will probably be over the weekend, I'll report my findings then:)

You're Welcome Christine!
Have you booked any other vendors yet? Since you're getting married at the Stewart Manor Country Club and looking in the New Hyde Park/Floral Park area, if you haven't checked out any florists yet, try Jay W. Becker in Floral Park. They are on the Westbound side of Jericho, diagonal from Floral Terrace. My flowers were beautiful and they were very affordable. Let me know if you need any other info about them!!

WE have our photographer and DJ. We are starting to talk about flowers now. Actually, I printed our YOUR review of Jay Becker Flowers last year so I would have a local reference. The house florist at Sterwart Manor is Floral Park florists. Do you know anything about them?

Sorry Christine, I haven't heard anything about Floral Park Florists. What DJ and photographer did you go with?

We are using Hart to Hart DJ and Paul Marino Photog. Who did you use? I am sorta guessed that floral park florists is a small local shop. The centerpieces are included with our catering contract, but I really don't like them and want to upgrade them or something.

Question for Bearsbabe................
I am getting married at the Floral Terrace in December and Jay W. Becker is one of their recommended vendors. I was wondering how are their prices? Were they reasonable or expensive? Can you also let me know what they included for the price? Thanks so much, Vivian
