We are having a very late wedding (we're Jewish & having a May wedding so sundown isn't until 8ish so the wedding can't start till 9!) So we assume most of our guests (even as close as NJ & NYC) will need a hotel room for the night since festivities won't end till 3am. The closest hotel to our reception is the Long Island Marriott. We've been told several times by our contact there that the hotel, since it is also a conference center, books up very fast and that our guests should reserve rooms asap. The real problem is that they won't open blocks of more than 20 at a time and we have probably 80 couples that will want rooms! (so if 15 people call for rooms they will not open another block for us and it is possible that by May the rest of the hotel can be filled). We still have 10 months until our wedding so I really dont want to worry about that now - but my mother wants to send out hotel cards NOW with a note telling our guests the situation and asking them to book asap. Think this is rude? Pushy? Has anyone else used the Marriott & had similar problems? Suggestions? THanks!!

Why don't you take blocks of rooms at other hotels like the Garden City Hotel or the Wingate. That gives your guests the option of what price range they want to spend as well having more rooms available in case the LI Marriott does book up for your date. Good Luck

There is also the Huntington Hilton which is a little south of the Marriott.

I have the same thing, in addition to the fact that for our wedding weekend, they require a Friday night and Saturday night stay!! You may want to write a little note to your guests stating that because the hotel books up fast, they need to book their rooms ASAP. I don't think that it is rude at all. You can send it like a save the date information card. Also, like another bride wrote, you can always block a few rooms in other hotels, just to be safe. Good luck!!

Is this the hotel next to the Wyndham Watch Hotel off the LIE you are speaking about? I''m planning from California and have been worrying about hotels. Now I am really worried as 75% of the guests will need rooms.

We also reserved rooms for our wedding at the Marriott. We got around the 20 room limit by having my mom hold 20 and my husbands parents held 20. Hope this helps. If the Marriott fills up they refer people to the Wyndham on Stewart Ave, which is also very nice...we just had a problem there with our gift bags being thrown out.

We are going to send out save the date cards w/ all of the hotel info in it. This way our guests will have a few choices of hotels.You might want to include a little note at the bottom like this- 'due to availabilty we suggest you book your room by September 1, 2001' Continued success!

I don't think it's rude or pushy to alert guests to the possible unavailability of rooms for your wedding, on the contrary, they will appreciate it. We have a wedding in NC in the fall and received a very nice letter from the bride and groom giving details about the wedding with several hotel choices in different areas where the wedding will take place with different price ranges. I thought it was great so we now know what time the ceremony begins and where we can stay.

We didn't have a problem with Marriott

I had requested 30 rooms from marriott - for 2 days. I asked for 30 because that is all I needed. Mine was for a holiday weekend. maybe thats why.
