hotel questions

FH and I need a hotel for wedding night.
We are getting married on a sunday in Feb. It's the last day of school vacation therefore I know majority of bridal party and plenty of guests will def not stay bc they are teachers..

I don't think it's worth looking into a block, bc I only know of 3 other rooms that will def be booked. It's early for guests to decide but it's getting late to book the rooms, soooo....

How did you girls get an idea of how many rooms you will need, or if you would meet the minimum for room blocks???

Re: hotel questions

Our wedding is on a Friday and we have quite a few OOT guests. The Marriott let us block off as many rooms as we needed - no financial risk for us. I explained that we may need a few on thursday and saturday, but will probably need a lot on Friday. They just gave us 20 rooms for all 3 days and said they have until a month before the wedding to book.

If you can find a hotel that lets you block off rooms at no risk to you - you may as well book a few. If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

We realized that we didnt have enough people from OOT to block the whole B&B at 3VI. Besides that the rooms are kind of expensive for our guests. I am just going to list a few alternatives on our wedding website (that I dont have done yet)

I have the same issue. I dont have many OOT guest per se. But my FH is from suffolk county and a lot of his friends still live out there so the issue is driving after the wedding. I have been asking around to feel people out and no body gives me any thing close to a concrete answer. I really do not want to loss any money from doing a hotel block. The Marriott sounds like a good deal though - is that the one in Uniondale by NCC)?

We are paying for the bridal party to stay at the hotel because we didn't want them to have the inconveneience to drive home and we didn't want anyone getting pulle dover. We have a bridal party of 20 so that 12 rooms definate plus about 4 other rooms for people who live a little far. So that's at least 15. It depends...some places let you do a minimum of an 8 room block. Youd on't leave a deposit or anything and if you dont have enough you just tell then beforehand withing their time frame and its cancelled free of charge.

Re: hotel questions

Book for a little over the amount you think you'll need... you contact the hotel about 60-30 days before the wedding and they'll release the unbooked rooms. Doesn't cost you a thing.
If you think you booked to little you call and ask how many are booked. If they are booking up you can add more on!

I'm booked at the Viana. 15 was the maximum amount of rooms that I can block off with no obligation. You should probably do something similar. They hold the rooms until a month before your wedding date.

I'm using the one in Farmingdale because its closest to my hall. I would think they all have similar policies though.

We live out east, farther than everyone else. I knew my parents were interested and bc the hotel is there we figured a lot of ppl would like to do so out of convenience. We have 15 rooms booked without the STDS!

Wow! Ok thank you girls. I didn't realize I wouldn't have to pay for the rooms I booked if I cancel them in advance. That's a huge help
Thank you, girls!
