HOTEL RANT!

HOTEL RANT!

Well after planning on blocking out rooms at a certain hotel (FM ME FOR NAME) - here is the scenerio..
$159.95 a night for our OOTG that includes shuttle
they can do better per night if we give up the shuttle... ok but I need the shuttle.. so the guests are paying for it in their room price per night..
so I get my tentative contract and it says that if 10 rooms do not get booked that we will not be entitled to the shuttle... well then what am I paying the higher rate per night?
I said let me get the price per night that is lower than that and I will just pay for the shuttle.. well they dont do that either...
if we do the $159.95 per night and the rooms dont 'actualize' than my guests dont get the discount per room as if we booked it without a shuttle... does anyone else think that I am wrong for seeing something wrong with this?!?!?
Oh I got a manager on the phone.. how unprofessional... she spoke over me the entire time, got nasty, started talking in circles.. about how the woman who has been helping me.. (helping me?! she told me she would call me back the last 2 days and she hasnt.. how hard is it to pick up the phone?!?!) - well she is new - so obviously that is acceptable.. i am 5 minutes away from calling corporate and flipping out.. what a nasty woman
Now I have to start all over with finding accomodations for OOTG for a similar price in a similar area with a guaranteed shuttle.... please tell me I am not the only one who sees something wrong with this scenerio.....

No way that is out of control!! I am so nervous about this part of the planning process. I would call corporate and see what they can do while looking for another hotel.

These hotels have some racket going. I just had another argument with my hotel. They are telling my guests my block is filled and it is NOT. People are paying the full amount, when they should be paying the contracted rate.

I know someone else had a similar problem and posted recently. Good luck with finding a new hotel. Seriously, at least it is now and now not a week before the wedding!

Its funny - I just made an appointment to meet with a different hotel for Tuesday and they actually beat the price for both my suite and the guests room... just 5 minutes up the road... can't wait until i call corporate and let them know that..

Hmm. I'd just tell them no shuttle. Honestly, guests don't really need it, I've never used one nor seen one at any but one wedding. Then, you won't have uncertainty at least on that point. I do agree though that the 'conditional' contract is ridiculous!!!

Also, the block will be called 'full' once the deadline is up, so you have to keep track of the bookings, and if a hotel books like 7 of your 10, or something like that, by the deadline, you should call and see if they'll extend it . . . .

That being said, there are plenty of hotels that do not make things so difficult!!!

No that is not right.
Call and ask them how much the room price is without the shuttle included, then ask them how much JUST for the shuttle? Thats ridiculous.

I did have the same issue with my hotel, they claimed once I booked 10 rooms the shuttle was free........and if not we had to pay $100 for it. Ok not a problem, we didnt book 10 rooms but the day of my wedding we were informed that they had 2 other weddings staying at the hotel and since they booked more rooms they got use of the shuttle before us, so my guests would have to wait for it to come and get them

THEN the day we checked out I got charge for 2 shuttles that didnt exist

Just find out what the room cost is without the shuttles. Truthfully, we had alot of OOT guests who stayed with family and even those that stayed at the hotel drove their own cars to the wedding. Unless you have alot of younger people staying at the hotel the shuttle is almost useless since the older crowd wants to drive their own car anyway.

I think I am using the same hotel you are talking about. I understand your frustration and what they are doing isn't right. But I honesty looked at a lot of places in the area and they do not do a shuttle AT ALL or their prices were a lot higher. So I should get 10 rooms blocked and it hopefully won't be an issue. Personally I thought having a shuttle service was VERY important especially for those who don't know exactly where they are going. Also if people want to have a few drinks at your wedding and relax and this allows them too without worrying about driving.

i went this route and said then I would just add it on if we really needed it - they dont do that - either you pay for the shuttle up front with the rooms or you dont have it at all - and if the 10 dont actualize there is no reimbursement to the guests.. alot of double talking them did...

Thats ridiculous. I can tell you tho that the price you got I think is about average, it ***** that you guests have to pay extra for a service they may not get.

i cancelled there and switched to a larger hotel about 5 minutes up the road - got lower prices and we are meetingon tuesday to talk about the shuttle.. I don't want anyone to get talked to like that.. its terrible that people think they can take advantage of you - its like if i didnt ask questions, i would have just gone along with it...

I'm getting married a week before you at the VYC. I think I know the hotel you had a problem with. They have been really horrible to work with. Yes, it seems that hand palsy runs rampant there, because dialing a phone seems exceedingly difficult.

I went with the Four Points Sheraton instead. The hotel seemed nicer, the people were MUCH more professional, and the rates are $135 a night. The shuttle is not included, but they provide one for $650.

Please FM me to let me know where you finally booked. I really need the shuttle, and wanted desperately to find a place that would provide one, and not pass on the costs to the guests.

Thanks!

I don't know which hotel you used and i'm not sure where you'd like to book rooms but we are using the four points by sheraton in plainview and they have been very accomodating. Our guests are paying $135 for a single occupancy and we are paying an extra $450 for the shuttle , which is much better than any private limo/bus company.
