Hotel Room block

Hotel Room block

I finally blocked rooms for my hotel the night of our wedding. Most of our guests are sort of local - but I think we will have a decent amount that will stay over so they don't have to worry about drinking and driving (or to have a night away from their kids lol).

I plan on sending my STD's in late June/early July. Do I include the hotel info with it or should I save that for the wedding invitations? I have the hotel info on our wedding website, but I dont know if many people will actually go on.

Include the hotel in your STD definitely because people like to book early and you want to make sure your block has time to fill up!

That's what I thought too - but they are only sending me a certain amount to send out. So i guess now I have to figure out how to improvise?

Ask the hotel to email u a PDF. This is what my hotel did so I can print them
Out myself on cardstock. It was easier and I was able to change and personalize it with our name of the block and date to book by too

I put all our hotel info on our website, which is called our on our STD. I didn't want to cram our STD with too much info.

I hate writing STD lol

How many rooms did you block off? I'm similar where a lot of people are on the Island but I need to block rooms off and don't know what a good amount is.

I know they only gave me a certain amount also so I just went back and asked for more! Remember that you only have to send one per couple! If you are booking blocks of rooms just tell them you need more!

I put our wedding website on our STDs and the hotel info is on our site. I know whenever I get a STD I always look at their site. I already personally told the people that I know will be staying over where our room block is so I could save the hotel info for the invites. HTH!

We put our wedding website on our STD which has all the information listed.

I am actually NOT putting our wedding website info on our STDs. I plan on printing up cards (business cards from vistaprint) with the hotel info & website. I will insert that into the envelope along with the magnet. I didn't want our STD being too wordy.

I was going to just put the hotel info on my wedding website but since I'm doing a postcard I'm putting the info on the back of the postcard. I'm using Jessica Leigh and she informed me if you have the room it's suggested to put the hotel info directly on the STD. Knowing my guest the info has to be easy accessible from them to actually book their room!!

I'm blocking 15 rooms at the Holiday Inn in Westbury The minimum is 10. But I'm not responsible for rooms taht aren't blocked so i figured better to have more than to have only 10 and maybe run out.

This is good info! I definitely want to block some rooms, since most of our friends want to drink & have a good time freely LOL

I'm actually in the process of doing this right now!! I'm so excited! We're going to do a small brunch the next morning with anyone who stays over! I am going to put the cards in with the save the dates! I want to get them out nice and early because I want to make sure my guests get the rooms and I get a suite!

I started with 20 on fri and 20 on sat. We are reaponsible for 10 each night We are sending it in std bc we will probably need to add more so I want to make sure they are available. I just didn't want to be reaponsible just in case we didn't book them all

This may be a silly question, but is there a fee to block off rooms? Since I'm doing an evening wedding, I definitely think my guest will need hotel rooms.

flynn14, what hotel did you go with?

There isn't technically a fee. I went w te hilton garden inn Melville. U can block 10 rooms there and not be responsible for filling any of them. Over 10 u r responsible for filling 50 percent. So for me I need to fill 10 of the rooms. Does that make sense

I think it depends on the hotel. Mine I can block 15 with NO guarantee, say I was to block 20, and only 15 booked, I'd have to pay for the extra 5 that didn't book!
