So I have about 5 months to my wedding and I had NO idea that people would be so crazy about booking rooms- I havent found a hotel yet and thats the only thing I have left to do- and my old roommate emails me that she needs the hotels asap... 5 months before? Someone tell me why you must have it asap? FH aunts were the same way... like reallly? I thought most people found out about hotels when they got the invitation...? Right or is this just me?
Vent COMPLETED.

Re: Hotel Vent
Well we booked our hotel block a little over a year before the wedding - but that's b/c it's in Riverhead in August. We actually already have 30 rooms booked in the block - and invitations aren't going out until the end of May. That being said, you have more time than I did given your location/time of year - but I would probably do it soon.

Re: Hotel Vent
Yes, we did ours a year in advance so we could send the hotel info out with the STDs, which worked well because now the hotel is booked solid!!!

Re: Hotel Vent
Im getting married on the same weekend as you, and I wasn't planning on giving out the block info until the invites went out.
I would block now if you could though!

Re: Hotel Vent
We booked our hotel block an exact year before the wedding. I updated the info on our wedding website and within a week 7 rooms were booked. The following few weeks saw about 9 more. Just recently we went up to 25 rooms for the night of and I had requests to add rooms for the night before. People may want to make a wknd of it if they are traveling.

Re: Hotel Vent
We blocked the hotel (Courtyard Marriott in Ronkonkoma), which supplies a free shuttle to Villa Lombardi's almost a year in advance.

We blocked our hotel a year in advance, but we are having a mini-destination wedding.

Re: Hotel Vent
We sent our hotel info out with our Save the Date's, a lot of people have booked rooms already. You should do it as soon as possible because hotels book up quick, and they may not have enough rooms left to do a full block for you.

We did the same thing. This way people could plan accordingly and they can look around at other hotels if they weren't interested in the one we provided.
