Hotel Vent- i'm so annoyed! *****UPDATE****

So, over the summer, we reserved 30 rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott in Farmingdale for our wedding night (whcih is a Sunday). I begged and pleaded to lower the room rate for our guests because I, personally, felt it was high. However, the rates for our wedding date were not out yet, so I had nothing to compare it to. They would not lower the rate or even give us, the bride and groom, a complimentary night in even the bottom level room, even thpough we are bringing them a large amount of business for a Sunday night. The only good thing is that they offer complimentary shuttle to CLM.
Anyway, I go online now that the rates are out to see how much a standard rate would be if I was just going the night by my self, and the rate is $10 cheaper than what we were quoted and signed a contract for. I'm so annoyed!
My mom told me to relax because maybe the rate includes the shuttle, but come on, they said it was a 'complimentary' shuttle, and when I asked if it affected the rates, the hotel said no.

****UPDATE****

I spoke to the newest coordinator, Faith. (The fifth coordinator that I have spoke to since June) and she said that the rate today is 'ever-changing' and won't be available for long. Usually, a promotion code for group rates is given out 6 months before the event night. For me, that would be January. So, in January, the rates will be a lot higher for the night we want. The promotion code will reserve our 'lower' price 5 months, until a month before the wedding. Which means that if someone decides 2 weeks before the wedding that they want to stay there, they will have to pay a higher price. The price is only held from January to June
BUT, they only have 10 rooms reserved for me, which is another screw up because I asked for 30! So I am having my close family and friends book now, with the lower rate. Then, when the invites go out, others will book with the code at the reserved price and we will be fine.


I hate that place. The only reason we chose there was b/c of the bar after the reception and the shuttle

a lot of times places will work with you if their rates weren't available when you booked.

DEFINITELY call them. Are you obligated for a certain number of rooms? If you're not, maybe you should threaten to cancel the whole block!

We are obligated to 15. That is so many, but who knoew we would run into all these problems.

yea, i know i have to speak with them, which brings up a whole other problem. The wedding coordinators keep 'leaving' and a new one gets assigned to us, which leaves no consistency between anything I say to the one before, because I have to repeat all of the things we need, like bar rental after, and breakfast the next day. And you can NEVER get a hold of them becuase the are always in 'meetings' and don't return messages. i'm so frustrated. Sorry, but I'm going totally nuts over here. Thanks ladies!

I can empathize with your frustration! Deb has had
some issues as well, with the Marriott, in Farmingdale. Because of all the posts here, I called her a few minutes ago; She and Fred are in Long Island for their e-pics tomorrow. I suggested
it might be a good idea, while in the area, to go to the Marriott, and have a heart to heart chat with the coordinator. Debi thought it a good idea as well. She said because the hotel is new, they've had an onslaught of Brides, who are interested in their services. The first coordinator was 'overwhelmed' and quit. Deb has been waiting for a link to put on their website, which was suppose to take 10 days, but it still has not been provided, and the time limit has exceeded well over 10 days!! We appreciate the posts on this issue, and ask that you continue to keep everyone informed of how all these issues are being handled by the hotel; I am a bit concerned, because we family members in Pa. are ready to book our rooms there, so hearing about disorganization is scary. I also booked with the Courtyard Marriott and have had a lot of problems with them. I finally called the general manager because no one was responding to my calls/e-mails.

I think they just changed sales managers AGAIN because I called the other day and I am getting someone totally new. I will also check the website regarding the new rates because I also felt the rate was way too high and I will definitely call and try to get it cheaper. We also went with this hotel mainly because it has a free shuttle service. Also, We are having a day wedding and wanted to head over to the 56th fighter group for an after party gathering. I have been very frustrated with this hotel for months!!! Please keep us posted as I will too!!

i called them like three times to block rooms and noone has EVER called me back. so yeah. they're a no go for me

Yea they had one girl there they never answered emails or called and it had taken forever to block rooms. I had switched from Holiday Inn Express and honestly i WISHEd we could of stayed with them. They are a pleasure to deal with. Problem is its too far for my guests who are driving. Not all my guests are going to use teh shuttle i know this so i rather them all stay at one hotel.

I am really frustrated with marriot and we should all email them to inform how horrible the service has been for brides who are giving them TONS of business.

She says there are two 'group sales' coordinators, and the hotel planned to hire a third because of the high volume of inquries, etc. Deb says that you might not always get the same person, to talk to. She said she did not go to the hotel, today, as planned, because they're more concerned with their e-pics tomorrow. But if anything comes up, we'll let you know, everyone. Mary MOB
