Hotel Vent- ** Updated Information**

Uggh why do people have to be so dumb!

I had several people that I invited to the wedding call the hotel we're dealing with and try and book rooms- we blocked off 10 rooms and FH, me, and FH's parents were the only ones that booked rooms at this time... so that's 3 of the 10 rooms...so 7 are remaining.. they call and they are told that they can't get that rate because IT'S ALL BOOKED!! Wth that can't be! There should still be 7 rooms left!

FH gets angry and calls the manager of the hotel- and the guy doesn't even remember us! I told FH if need be to march down there with the signed contract in his hands and shove it in the manager's face.

I am so fuming atm I can't concentrate on work- FH is dealing with the guy and I'm just hoping my guests don't get screwed.

Btw- the hotel is also supposed to shuttle the guests to and from Russo's as well- at this time I might just make other arrangements for that if they're going to be idiots.

Yes everything is in writing and we sat with him in late December too to make sure everything was okay and set up.

Originally though there was a previous manager that dealt with us but she left that particular hotel- so we brought the contract to the new managers attention and sat and went over things with him...idk they're not that busy of a hotel that they'd forget us.

Nope is the Fairfield Marriott by JFK airport... still a Marriot though.

FH is going to call me (I'm at work atm till 9pm tonight) and hope it's straightened out.

I just don't want my guests overcharged.

well doesnt matter if he remembers you or not, you have a contract and they have to honor that so doesnt matter what they say...alot of businesses wont remember every single client doesnt mean they can get out of a contract because of that...go over the contract about how many rooms are guaranteed and how many your guests booked and tell them you demand the remaining rooms are booked by your guests and if not they can pay for your guests to stay at another hotel

I told FH that if he's giving us grief not only will I make sure I will tell all about their bad business ethics but to take the contract to the hotel and tell them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

In the event that I do have to get another hotel, does that mean I have to resend notices to all the OOT guests?

Yea i feel these hotels could give too shits about any of us and I am freaking tired of it. I finally got my stuff cleared up at the Marriot in Farmingdale after calling and calling again. Now I am just trying to get answers about who is blocking rooms and if i can get a room count nad other info. HOW FREAKING HARD IS IT TO ANSWER AN EMAIL!!!

I swear to go I wish I stayed with holiday inn express. I am thinking this is a Marriot issue in general - f marriot never stayin in one again.

Sad thing was of all the hotels we looked at they were the nicest and also pricewise the most economical.

Re: Hotel Vent

Exactly everyone else was cheaper and nicer - i just felt people would want a bit better service and it was closer to the catering hall. WOW total bad judgement.

WOW DANIELLE!!! THATS RIDICULOUS!!! GET ON EM! They'll eventually bend, especially since u have a contract!

I used to work for a big name hotel chain in the catering/sales department and from experience working down there as the assistant they didnt care about the wedding hotel blocks. They just cared about the HUGE 100 room bookings. But really in the long run the people booking these weddings may need a hotel for something else that is a bigger event and they wont use them again. I used to get so angry when they just put the wedding bookings to the side as if they were not paying the hotel!

Re: Hotel Vent

Ok here's the updated news-

They (the hotel) has a special code (which they didn't tell us) that we needed to tell our guests to use- they told us that we can use 'Danielle & Gary's Wedding Party' not the acutal booking code that they need to book the room at the special rate.

We now have the code- which is good but our guests are still going to run into problems- what do we do? Do we send out cards (revised hotel cards) or do we just wait till they call us with the problem? Not everyone has an email so that is kinda out of the question there.

FH spoke to his mom and dad and they are spreading the word (since most of his guests are the OOT people) about the needed code. I was just going to wait and see who gets in touch with me about it and then tell them the code but I don't want to be rude but also I don't have the $$ to spend on more postage

Uggh I am soo fustrated on this!! Why didn't they tell us about it?

That is really quite annoying! perhaps since you're only really expecting 7 rooms to be booked (assuming since that's how many rooms are in your block) you could just call the ppl you're expecting to book hotel?

I would just call and email all the people and say sorry for this confusion - the hotel never told us we needed this code too so here it is in case you are booking a room.

i would get some card stock, and print up some little edited hotel information explaining it to all the guests. If there are a lot of OOT guests, it saves you the pain of having to call each one that calls with a problem, it saves you face of the guests feeling like you didn't care enough to call and explain the problem, and it avoids those who just won't call and will end up spending more than they should on the hotel
