I started calling around to block rooms for my 8/2002 wedding. The best rate I could find in the area we are looking was Huntington Hilton ($139). Has anyone had any experiences here? This process seems to be tricky- some hotels will hold the rooms with no 'guarantee numbers' and some make you sign a contract that states if your rooms don't book up, you will be responsible for paying for the rooms! I know there have been many posts on this subject, and I know many of you must feel that this is risky. What if your guests don't book!! Also, many places won't hold more than 20 rooms. What if you need more? Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed. Continued success to all

This has definitely been the trickiest part of the planning for us! We are using the LI Marriott, and they only let you block 20 rooms at a time - once they fill 20 rooms they will open another block of 20 for you. The problem is that if most of your guests don't book until right before the wedding, the hotel can be sold out by then. We tackled this by sending out hotel info to our guests (recently for our May wedding) telling them the situation and suggesting they book early. It hasn't worked so well though - we only have 17 rooms booked so far. We'll also be providing a list of other hotels in the area at various prices (although nothing has been much less expensive - we got $149 at the Marriott). Anyway - that's all I can say at this point. Good luck!

I vote for the Hampton Inn in Commack! Ask for group manager, Susan. She's the best to deal with and makes everything easy. Good luck...

Here you go... 631-462-5700, ask for Susan 680 Commack Road; it's not ultra-fancy, but it is nice and includes continental breakfast each morning. They are very nice there, and gave a group rate to my sister of $125/night. Good luck!
