How far in advance should you book hotel rooms for out of town guests?

I am getting married in August and looking at hotels now - I don't think you need to do it this early - but I want to so when I send out Save the Dates - I can give hotel info too!

i booked my hotels as of 2 months ago. im getting married in june 2004. i actually had to change the date of my wedding because i found out that my original date - all the hotels were booked. so my advice to you book book book now!!!

Most Hotels will allow you to reserve a year in advance. I believe I blocked mine 9 months ahead

I booked our rooms two weeks ago for May04. The sooner you do it the better. My hotel only allows 10 rooms to be reserved at a time. As they book the Hotel will extend more rooms.

I just blocked mine and I am getting married in July (and it's a holiday weekend). I think you still have time. Maybe you should do it in the beginning of the year??

I blocked mine at 9 months - and it was MORE than enough time for my time of year - I would block early though if you are dealing with holiday travel though

I was told by a hotel that I should block the rooms by the end of the year because I am getting married in June.

word of advice, start looking in to hotels and calling for prices in advance to give you time to shop around, I was shocked at the prices of hotels on LI!
