hotels for out of state guests

i have a few guests coming from upstate or VA do we have to pay for the hotel rooms for them or can we just give them recommendations on hotels that are close by? i don't think my budget will be able to afford paying for it.

No you don't need to pay for out of town guests. I have a block of 25 rooms booked at a hotel and the guests make their reservations on their own. I have a lot of out of town guests coming so I had to have hotel arrangements. Usually your reception hall will recommend a hotel close by.

Most of my guests are OOT.... i am not, and most couples, do not pay for their accommodations. that is something the guest has to consider when accepting your invite.

What you should do is block off rooms at a hotel near your hall and/or church. With the invites, send hotel information and let them know that there are rooms are reserved.

(You are not responsible for rooms not booked... msot hotels a month before a wedding, if the rooms are not all booked, releases them into the general pool).

Re: hotels for out of state guests

Our hotel, the Hampton Inn allowed us to block 15 rooms for up to 30 days pre-wedding at a contracted rate with no financial liability on our part. After that date, the rate was still offered to our oot guests, but availability was not guaranteed.

So, we did not pay for the guests room (we have over 15 rooms booked), and we were not financially liable for the rooms we did not book, all things you need to discuss when making a hotel contract. We got a negotiated group rate, and the rate was offered to our families. Most hotels have some type of block availability like this. Just make sure that you are not financially liable for rooms that don't book - some hotels slip this into the contract - in our case this wasn't the case, but with another hotel, inorder to reduce the rate by only $10, we have to pre-pay for the room at 90% and whatever did not book, we were going to eat.

You are not expected to pay for their housing. Just block out rooms and give them the info.
